Unfortunately, editing my 5 star review below to reflect our recent experience. My husband and I drove an hour to the Fish Whistle for Valentines Day as a romantic dinner since we had such a pleasant experience and fond memories from our wedding. Unfortunately, we had a polar opposite experience dining in the restaurant. Being pregnant now and wanting a cute date night, I asked if they could make a mocktail to which the waitress said no but that she could mix sprite with cranberry juice. I found this a little disappointing for a place with a full bar. I couldn’t take my heavy jacket off the whole meal because the dining room was so cold. Our waitress Becky was also unpleasant the whole experience. I ordered meatloaf and mashed and after I tasted it, I couldn’t continue eating as the meatloaf had a very gamey and off putting flavor. I sat not touching the plate after that and planned to order something else but our waitress didn’t return once until my husband had finished his entire meal. After seeing I hadn’t touched the plate she never asked if something was wrong or if I liked it but just instead came by and asked if I wanted a box. I told her I didn’t like it but my husband could take it if he wanted to which she just returned with the check. I left after an hour drive still hungry and needing to stop somewhere else on the way home to get something to eat. It was just a very disappointing experience after we had been really looking forward to returning. I stand by my 5 star review of the catering experience, but the dining experience was unfortunately more of a 1 star.
We used the Fish Whistle as the caterer for our wedding in June. I remembered how great their food was from when I would visit the restaurant as a college student. What I was not expecting was how incredible their catering service would be. Lisa was nothing short of amazing. She chatted with me on countless phone calls as we changed up the menu a few times. She was honest and upfront about pricing and services and even gave me several suggestions on ways to accommodate our budget. She even showed up early on my Wedding day to set up and coordinate with me because she knew I did not have a planner. Her advice based on her experience was invaluable. She's done countless weddings and this is the first one I've planned, so she always made me feel comforted that she would take care of it, and she did!!! Lisa tailored our menu to exactly what we wanted including a mashed potato bar and specially requested peach bar desserts. (and then even packaged up our favorite foods in to go boxes because she knew my husband and I would be too busy day of to eat a lot).Their food is incredibly reasonable, and underpriced in my opinion for the quality of food we were served! All of our guests talked about how amazing the food was and still make comments about it today. The food and prices will draw you in (try the pulled pork jalapeno poppers!!!) but what will really make you choose them is their service. I am still blown away and could probably write a novel, because I have so many good things to say about them. Lisa, I could never thank you enough for not only taking care of the food, but countless other things outside of your job description along the way. You made me, an anxious bride, feel reassured at every turn. Seriously, the best caterer ever. I talked to countless in our search, and they are top tier. We can't wait to visit for future date nights and...
Read moreI used Fish Whistle to cater my wedding. I will start off by saying that everyone complimented the food. My husband and I were very excited about the food, however, we were only 30 minutes late to the cocktail hour because of photography and they had already run out of apps. We paid a lot of money and to not even get to try the apps was very disappointing. They knew our cocktail hour was an hour long and should know how much food to provide. I would like to add that Lisa (who runs the catering department) was unpleasant and unprofessional to work with throughout entire wedding process. She was negative and disregarded any requests I had. I asked for a menu tasting and she said no, and demanded our first deposit before we even tried any food. We went to the restaurant in our spare time and tried the food ourselves with no credit towards the meal or ability to try the catering menu. I let Lisa know we were coming and there was no acknowledgment. On the day of my wedding, she showed up on site, didn't even ask who I was nor did she introduce herself, and started bad-mouthing all my other vendors. I had to interrupt her to introduce myself. All my other vendors were a delight to work with. Lisa was the only vendor that made the experience negative. Also, not a single staff member, including Lisa reached out to us during or after the wedding to ask how everything went. Customer service is not Fish Whistle's strong suit. I would not recommend Fish Whistle's catering service...
Read moreThe view, beautiful. The food, absolutely disappointing. I wish the food would’ve lived up to the scenery at this restaurant but it did not. We got the hush puppies as an appetizer and those were good. My husband got the double crab cake entree, which was two crab cakes and supposed to be two sides. He added a Caesar salad, and never got the two sides. The crab cakes are definitely not Maryland style, they looked like they were grilled like a hamburger patty. On top of that, his crab cakes looked like a 4 oz and a 2 oz. How can you possibly put two different sizes that look like all together should’ve been the size of one crab cake…for $38 bucks!? No thank you. I ordered the steak & cake. The steak was very fatty and full of tendons. My crab cake was the same way as my husbands. I was supposed to get mashed potatoes and a veggie. I substituted the veggie for a side salad. I only got the side salad, and my server told me that took place of the mashed potatoes and the veggie (which was not mentioned when I ordered) and I could add the mash back on for an extra charge. How does that even make sense? My salad tasted dirty like the lettuce hadn’t been washed and there was very mushy mushrooms on it…yuck. I would’ve complained to the waiter about the food, however we didn’t see her again until we were done and sitting there waiting for a bill. Needless to say, after an appetizer, two entrees, and $107 bill (plus $20 tip) later, we left HUNGRY. We absolutely will not...
