Century CINEMARK are, like this one, very, very nice. These have, Historically speaking, have been the 2 largest theater chains in America Regal and Cinemark... Although AMC is buying local mom and pop theaters trying to become number one. They likely will become the largest but bear in mind, buying these mom and pop theaters, they usually only have 2 or 3 screens and they're not very nice theaters! Anyway, CENTURY uses stadium seating and silver screens which are better for 3-D period. Of course all the theaters in town - which I think there are 7 theaters Cinergy theaters out of Dallas allow you to reserve your exact seat and they serve food and alcohol...
Oddly enough, I have only seen CENTURY cinemark theatres here (one!) and all over California and this one in Odessa behind Home Depot. And I have driven home to LA. That century is the only places I've seen them! The century theatre, IMHO, it is NICER/BETTER than the Regal theatres in the malls although the regal theater in Midland is not in the mall rather it's down the street to exits before the mall. Off of lmLoop 250, you exit Midland drive if you're going North from 191/Andrews highway. Odessa Regal is in music city mall. Both or practically all of these theaters have more than 15 screens so every movie out that's main stream, is showing!
The CENTURY CINEMARK theatre is nicer than the regal because they have the stadium seating where even if somebody sits in front of you, they cannot obstruct your view the seats have too much of an incline to allow that to happen. So I give Century 5 stars! If you're new here, it's a little hard to find since they're behind home depot and they have no sign on 191 42nd street to indicate they're even there! You simply turn North on Preston Smith and go past Home Depot and it's right there on the left. And yes, all the theaters except for the drive-in, are...
Read moreOur experience is based on the movie and the arcade only. Theaters have comfortable seating and the place has a great arcade. It's also kept clean and is one of the few places to go in town with the kids when we have the money to burn. Tuesdays are a good time to go because tickets are $5, but you have to sign up to receive the discount. Evening showings are the busiest, like most places.
However, the three rating is because there is room for improvement. First, the arcade is too costly. If the membership brings down the price of a movie ticket to $5, then the arcade should also be discounted.
Also, as with every other theater we have been to, food and drink costs are ridiculous. The company also doesn't accept cash, which is probably illegal. An average family will likely spend at least $70 at this place for popcorn, drinks, and movie tickets. I don't think I will ever fully accept this fact...it's the parent in me that feels obligated to do so, and this company knows it.
On several occasions, the movie audio is turned on, while the screen is black. It takes several minutes to find someone who can change the video settings. An employee should be in the theater for the first few seconds to make sure movies start correctly. The employees also tend to play the volume too loud, so bring earplugs if your sensitive to sound.
Finally, I have one quick note about customer service in modern times...it is now extinct. So be prepared if you go basically anywhere. Or, just don't go at all...maybe that will...
Read moreNow I never leave reviews especially bad ones, because I have worked all kinds of jobs so sometimes I try to have empathy for people, because I've been in peoples shoes. But on Saturday night (06/29/2024), my husband and I did the Haunted Mansion escape room. The room itself was cool, but the girl who started the room for us was kind of rude, she came back into the room after we had already started and she restarted the room, she put everything we originally found back and said she "didn't know there was another group as well coming to do the same room".. so we had to start over. The group that ended up coming in with us was super nice and a great group, we were having fun, but when we asked for clues, she kept giving us clues for things we already passed and figured out.. And they only give you the first 3 for free, any other clues after that take time away from you. So it wasn't fair that we used our free clues on things we already knew... We didn't end up "Escaping" the escape room for this reason, which was a bummer. But the cherry on top was that at the end, the girl just let us out and then just left.. She didn't explain the room or tell us how it ended or offer to take a picture, and when we asked questions she ignored us and literally just unlocked the door and turned around and walked away from us. We had to walk ourselves out and then just leave.. It would have been a great experience if we had gotten a nicer team member. Definitely wouldn't recommend this experience for the...
