My family and I recently visited The Boathouse for the first time for my motherās birthday, as we had heard this restaurant was a beautiful place with great food and ambiance. Since we had a reservation, we were quickly seated at our table. After sitting down, we realized our experience was going to be extremely loud due to a large party being rowdy with out-of-control children. We informed our server that this was our first time visiting The Boathouse and that we were here for our motherās birthday. We could not hear our server or our own partyās conversations due to how obnoxious this party was, with children clapping, screaming, and rolling on the floor. No one at the restaurant asked them to settle down, and nothing was offered to us for such horrible ambiance. It was clear that we were not the only party disturbed by this larger partyās behavior, as everyone was looking around the room after these extremely loud outbursts and we were in a closed off, small room. We discussed our concerns with our waitress about how dissatisfied we were with the behavior of the party, and the server informed us that the party did have 7 children and this behavior was to be expected. We were extremely disappointed by the lack of empathy from the waitresses response, as we were expecting an apology on behalf of The Boathouse, as this is a distinguished restaurant. The service was good. The food was ok, as my sisterās pizza was undercooked and the clam chowder was under-seasoned. After witnessing the rowdy party receive a large celebration from the staff for a birthday, our party decided to order a creme brĆ»lĆ©e for our motherās birthday. Our party had informed The Boathouse of our motherās birthday when we made the reservation as well as when we were seated in the restaurant. We were extremely disappointed at the lack of celebration or acknowledgment with the arrival of the dessert, as the desert had no acknowledgment of the birthday and appeared to be an ordinary desert. We decided to move past this and try the dessert. We picked up the spoons to enjoy it to find 4 out of the 5 spoons extremely dirty, covered in food from a previous customer. We had to eat our cold, nearly burned creme brĆ»lĆ©e with forks. After finishing our disappointing meal with headaches from the noise of the rowdy party, we visited the bathrooms to find toilet water all over the floor from a clogged toilet, empty toilet paper dispensers, and cold water from the sinks. Overall, my family and I were extremely disappointed with the food and ambiance of The Boathouse and will not be returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live in NC & I always eat at The Boat house when I visit VA, the food & service is always good & the experience is always great. Today march 15 I spent all day fishing with my lady & all I wanted was a zookie dessert & jalapeƱo poppers to finish off my day, so I decided to call in so I can pick up. When we got there my lady said she was tired & told me to ask if we can eat outside.ā I obviously wasnāt dressed appropriately because I just spent all day fishing & being outdoorsā I enter & told the host I was picking up & that I wanted to sit outside because I seen people eating outside & they told me they werenāt sitting anyone outside. ā even tho there were people eating outsideā so I said it was fine. I then saw a a pizza that was sitting by the entrance that caught my attention so I asked the Hispanic lady that was making them how long it would be to make one & she said 5 minutes, so I decided to order it. I then took my dessert & appetizer by the fire place while I waited for the pizza. Inside the bag there was not any plastic silverware so I decided to go inside to ask the host if they had any & they told me they didnāt have anymore & they werenāt getting any till Monday. I went back outside & decided to make my own spoon out of cup of ice cream they gave me for my dessert. While we were eating the dessert & appetizer the lady making the pizza walked out and told me the pizza was ready ā literally 5 minutes laterā I went inside to pick it up & asked her in a different language if they had plastic silverware & she said they did but when she asked the hostās all 3 of them said no they donāt have any. I then thanked the lady making the pizza & walked out to enjoy my food. The Hispanic lady making the pizza then walked outside & brought me plastic silverware & asked if I wanted anything to drink & felt bad that I had to make my own spoon b/c the host didnāt want to give me any & apologized that I got treated like that.āI left her a very good tip & thanked her for not judging a book by itās coverā She is 10/10 & will only ask for her to serve if I ever decide to eat there again. āprobably not after that horrible experienceā Every time I eat there I always spend $200+ on food, drinks & always leave a good tip. I honestly think I didnāt get the best treatment because I was not wearing the fancy clothes I...
Read moreI visited The Boathouse at Sunday Park on Saturday, March 1st, at 6:30 PM for my birthday weekend, hoping for a special waterfront dining experience. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing and led to a very unpleasant weekend. Upon arrival, I immediately noticed the floor was filthy, with visible remnants of macaroni and cheese and a fruit spoon. I alerted my waitress to the situation, she responded that a baby had been present earlier, but she made no effort to clean the area or have someone else do so. This was unacceptable, especially considering the visible mess. The food itself was okay, but far from exceptional. In fact, both my fiancé and I became ill over the weekend after dining at The Boathouse, which raises serious concerns about food safety. The lack of cleanliness on the floor, combined with our subsequent illness, suggests a potential issue with hygiene practices. The waitress's refusal to address the dirty floor was particularly frustrating. It demonstrated a complete lack of concern for customer comfort and hygiene. The fact that this happened during my birthday weekend made it even more disappointing. The atmosphere, which is usually touted as a selling point, was overshadowed by the uncleanliness and the worry about food safety. The scenic view couldn't compensate for the unsanitary conditions and the resulting illness. Given the unclean environment, the mediocre food, the subsequent illness, and the waitress's dismissive attitude, I cannot recommend The Boathouse at Sunday Park. The lack of basic hygiene standards and the potential for foodborne illness are significant red flags. I strongly advise others to consider these factors before dining here, especially for...
