The Palace — Restaurant in Milford

So, I came to a birthday party for my uncle in law and initially, it was fine. I ordered the fried clam, applesauce, mashed potatoes, and Italian wedding soup. I don’t know if maybe out waitress didn’t think I knew what I was talking about but when everyone else’s food came out, she put clam strips in front of me which were someone else’s and then put a different platter of clam strips in front of me. I told her that I ordered the fried clam and not clam strips. She apologized, took it back and I ate my applesauce while everyone else ate their food.

She comes back and puts a plate of clam strips in front of me. I asked my husband to talk to her and she tells him that all clam meals are clam strips. I’d believe that if the clam strip basket didn’t come with French fries. The jumbo fried clam comes with bread, sides, and soup/salad. I got my sides and soup as ordered. I don’t understand why I wasn’t told after having my order wrong three times but when my husband says something, there’s an explanation.

I ended up with a basket of fried clam strips. Not to say there were intentions behind it but I was the only poc at the table, only one who didn’t get the food I ordered, my white husband had to speak up for me to get information, and honestly the experience will be my first and last time that I ever visit. Usually race doesn’t cross my mind when I have a bad time somewhere but I was the only one who had problems. It was a large party so I was patient the first time, but three times with information given only to my husband and not directly to me when I ordered or any other time. Never coming back and never suggesting for anyone else.

I wanted to like this place as I had heard so many good things about it. While the food was good, unfortunately the service was very poor & lackluster. It wasn't very busy when we went, so I don't understand why it took over 10 minutes for a waitress to ask us for drink orders. Then I finally decided on my meal and ordered a chicken cheese steak with only chicken, cheese, onions & mayonnaise, emphasizing the only. Well, when I got my cheese steak it had peppers all throughout it. When the waitress finally came back to check on us I told her that my food hasn't come as ordered and I'd like a replacement. She asked if I would like something else instead, I told her I wanted the chicken cheese steak how I had ordered it and repeated my order. I was very nice & understanding, I understand things happen. A few minutes go by and she brings me out another cheesesteak... That had peppers on it AGAIN. By this time we had been in the restaurant for close to 45 minutes and everyone else in my party had eaten but me, so I ask for my NOW THIRD sub to go. About 10 minutes go by and they bring me another cheesesteak that was finally made as I ordered. They got my order wrong not once, but twice. I had to wait for them to make my cheesesteak 3 separate times. The waitress didn't even offer to do anything to fix their mistake other than give me one of the subs they messed up for free. In my opinion after making me wait close to an hour just so I could take my meal to go she should have comped at least MY entire meal. Very disappointed although I will say once my sub was made correctly...

So. I'm gonna start this off with the atmosphere. Everything looked great from what we aaw cause we had to do take out, but the place was veey pretty. However, it was overshadowed due to the entire entrance and waiting area smelling like mildew. Service was okay, showed up 5 minutes after the slice app said it would be done, and still waited another like 15 minutes for us to get our food. The original girl we asked about our food never came back to say we would be waiting longer. We were, however, asked about 10 separate times if we were helped yet. The manager made sure to go back and check on our food when she saw we were still standing there after a bit. So, there are no real complaints about the service. Food was underwhelming. I ordered sea trout, fries, and broccoli. My wife got country friend steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and greenbeans. The entrées were OKAY, definitely needed salt and pepper, the sides, so the fries I ate on our way to the hotel so they'd be fresh, but they were flaccid and wet with no salt or seasoning so i didnt even finish them, the broccoli which i ate when we got to the hotel, was overcooked to soft mush, either through steaming or boiling without any addition of seasoning, same as my wife's greenbeans, they're just canned cooked greenbeans with no seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were again, no seasoning, without the gravy would've been a flavorless mashed mess. Gonna try again sometime for Eat in, hopefully that'll result in a...
