Returning to Chozhas after a hiatus of over two years due to a previous unsatisfactory visit, we were greeted by a refreshing change. Despite the snowy weather on a Friday evening, the warm welcome we received upon entering the more pristine and vibrant setting was a harbinger of a promising night ahead.
We were promptly seated by an amiable staff member, and our request for a wine opener was met with the cheerful assistance of Usha, our waitress, who not only provided the opener but also kindly opened our bottle. Meghna, another member of the service team, approached with equal vivacity to take our order.
With a modest appetite but a desire to savor our time together, we opted for an assortment of starters. The Gobi Manchurian was the star of the evening, delivering a delightful contrast with its crispy exterior and succulent spicy interior. However, the Mix Pakora, which was solely comprised of Onion Pakora, fell short of expectations and would be better suited to its specific ingredient title. The Paneer Appetizer, on the other hand, was an indulgence of taste and texture, leaving us pleasantly satisfied.
Our main course consisted of Garlic and Butter Naans paired with Veg Kadai. The latter was a revelation of flavors, with a smoked bourbon essence and the distinctive aroma of a mud pot, all perfectly complementing the expertly crafted naans.
The exemplary service provided by Usha and Meghna was the cherry on top — their cordial and polite demeanour, coupled with an infectious enthusiasm, truly enhanced our dining experience.
Chozhas has not only redeemed itself but has also left an indelible impression, assuring it a place on our recommendation list for a delightful...
Read moreHorrible food. Service sub par. We told the waiter we were extremely dissatisfied with the appetizers and the taste and he acted surprised and said he hadn’t ever heard that before. I however wasn’t surprised after then coming on here and reading the reviews (while waiting for 30 plus minutes for my parents entree). I refused to even try a bite of the main course after reading the reviews and seeing people complain of stomach problems the next day. To top it all off- wait times for the food are ridiculous, the waiter messed up the paneer (we asked for it without bell peppers) and forgot the garlic and cheese naan all together. They charge for onions (LOL whattt??! This is the first Indian restaurant I have gone to that does this) and the mocktails we got were totally laughable. This restaurant is half a**ed at best! Agree with all the other reviews that the the prices are plain ridiculous for the quality of the food. The place looks great from the outside and had clean bathrooms (so one star for that!) besides that everything else is just downhill including the dated interior. To the owner: having read quite a few reviews and experiencing your restaurant for myself, my advice to you is instead of justifying the sign stating weight times and how everything is “fresh” and “custom made to order” you needs to focus on why everyone is saying what they are. People, I have found, don’t mind paying if they are leaving happy- this restaurant needs a complete overhaul. I hope you are able to take all this as constructive criticism and put in the work necessary to make this a good...
Read moreWe were greeted immediately and warmly upon walking in, given our table and provided menus and water. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and available - we didn't wait or have to seek her attention. We ordered samosas for appetizers which were fresh, hot, crispy and fragrant. The accompanying sauces were delicious and each had a pleasant and varied flavor profile to add to the dish. For dinner we had the Lamb Saag, Paneer Tikka, Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. The paneer was firm and flavorful, bright and exciting. The lamb was delicious and tender, with the depth of flavor and warmth of the spices and freshness of the spinach used for the sauce. Accompanying The lamb was a bowl of traditional basmati rice, cooked perfectly. Not hard and underdone, not soft and mushy, as perfect as rice should be, and was a great carrier for the sauce from the Lamb Saag. The breads were fresh, warm, and delicious both on their own, and eaten with the entrees and sauce. For dessert we enjoyed both traditional dishes, Gulab Jamun and Rasamalai. The Gulab Jamun was warm and intensely sweet in the best way. I can liken it to fried zeppole or doughnut holes, soaked in a lightly caramelized sugar syrup. The Rasamalai reminds me of a cross of tres leches and flan. Creamy and lightly sweet, and a great finish to the meal. Everything came out with great speed, but not rushed. We had plenty time to finish each course before the next came. With the option to select your preferred level of spice, this restaurant offers a great experience to the novice, experienced, and...
