My husband and I are sushi lovers who eagerly awaited this hub to open up. Our all time fav sushi place was as well in a small Publix mall in Fairhope Al and was divine (Shanghai Cottage!)! We became regulars there very quickly and was hoping this would as well not disappoint. But, oh boy, how wrong we were! Atmosphere is like a fast food joint, tables are covered in glued on plastic sheets, it is awfully bright in there and the mural has these crazy loud colors like I would suspect the world to look like when you are on some kind of psychedelic drug, order and pay at cashier up front, 2 tall doorways into the back are open which makes the whole place even more uninviting, the music choice is not fitting to a supposedly Japanese restaurant and there is no sushi bar. The food was the worst I had in a long while, hands down. Maybe even ever!! The miso soup was ok. The crab rangoon was good. But the squid salad was fake tasting and so were both sushi rolls, California and Spicy Tuna. I kept chewing and thinking "plastic". I am kinda glad they didn't have hot sake. I might have just washed it down and not thought about it any longer. What I also found terrible and without style was that they had colored all rice green bc of St. Patrick's Day. Who does that?! Just 20 min after leaving i started to feel uneasy in my stomach and it is still feeling strange, now about 2 hrs later...Usually my stomach doesn't give me much trouble. Prices were comparable with much nicer sushi places. At least the Service was friendly and fast. But sorry to say: we won't be back.🙄
THE NEXT MORNING : my husband and I both feel sluggish and with no energy. Pretty exhausted really. Tight in the stomach. Something must be terribly wrong with their...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! Save your money and go to the all-you-can eat sushi place in Pace. Hubby and I went here because we had to go to Publix. First, lunch was 70 before tip for a hibachi meal and three rolls. For this price, I want food on real dinnerware.
The drinks are in plastic cups from a fountain and you get your own silverware, condiments, and drinks.
The salad we paid extra for was the tiniest amount of luttuce with some shredded carrots served in a styrofoam bowl.
The soup was not warm - but was complimentary.
I ordered two sushi rolls and my husband ordered hibachi chicken and a roll. They brought his hibachi out and I was left staring at him while he ate. He had completely finished his meal before they brought the rolls. The rolls were ok but not 15.00 a piece good.
The seating is crammed. The walls, floors, and baseboards were dirty. You painted them white and no one cleans them? Please look at the corner wall going toward the kitchen. There is tin foil behind the trash can because of dirt, and then look at the wall.....black filth.
There is absolutely no way that was a 70.00 meal. Publix sushi is way better and much cheaper. We will definitely not be back and I highly doubt this place will succeed.
We went to Publix afterward and BOTH of our stomachs became upset.....everyone knows that fast walk. It was literally flushing 70.00 down the Publix toilet. DO NOT GO HERE! Look at all of the one star reviews -...
Read moreYou know when you’ve been wanting something for SOOOO long and then you finally get it, only to be let down? Well, that’s what happened to me today.
We enter in and the vibes I got was fast food. You order and pay first, and claim your table. Drink and utensils are self serve. The drink station was janky and truly, I don’t think secure enough because when I was getting ice, the whole table was shaking. Originally, we wanted sweet tea but it tasted sour/old so we switched the soda. I was thrown off by the straws. They weren’t wrapped or covered (imagine those colorful bendy straws in a box).
There’s two menus which is confusing, but we figured it out quickly. My husband ordered sushi, which he got quickly and he loved.
We then got our salads… in styrofoam bowls (mind you, everything else was on real plates). Both salads were overly dressed and the lettuce was wilted.
We then got our steak + chicken hibachi and that’s when the let down happened. If it wasn’t for the yumyum sauce, it would have been bland and way worse.
We didn’t get our soup right away, I had to ask for it. But I regret it because it tasted like slightly seasoned water and the mushrooms were still raw (usually with clear soup, they are super thin and soft).
That wraps up the food.
The mural on the wall was so stunning and it was the only thing I was impressed with. The Christmas music was a little loud but it was the least of my worries.
Will we...
