"Sour Taste On Father's Day 2024" EL GRECO---EL BYE YO Y'ALL NAW I'M NOT COMING BACK NO MO NO MO!!! #BLACKMONEYMATTERS I really had a taste for liver & onions + bacon with some brown gravy. So, my go to choice has always been El Greco or Omega depending on what side of town I'm on at that moment. After church my wife & son treated me to dinner of my choosing which pleased me well. Of course, I wanted my favorite meal on this special day celebrating it with the ones I love most. I ordered my usual as always special day or not it's my go to liver & onions. While waiting for my main course to arrive I had a bowl of creamy chicken with rice. The soup was a bit runny close to slimy (wanted to leave then) but I said ok because I was salivating for my favorite. Service was a bit slower than usual possibly the holiday but that's ok because I really wanted my liver & onions with bacon & brown gravy. Finally, our meals did arrive with much patience. First bite........ugggh! I was totally disgusted by the taste & texture of the liver. It was very mushy, soggy, & very wet with a sour sauce. Or maybe the meat was sour from the jump & they (El Greco on 91st & Appleton) decided to cook it and throw it out there seeing they were "really busy" on Father's Day. The waitress did inform me that she would, "show it to her boss!" A few minutes later she came back & asked if I wanted to try the same meal or something different. After looking at the menu I was so disappointed that I decline any food replacement at all. It was as though I was eating baby food.........YUCKEY!! VERY MUSY, NASTY, & TASTELESS! I'm really disappointed the owner, manager, or even the cook didn't come out to apologize on this special day to a father celebrating with his loved ones. They had the waitress (who was very kind considering lack of management accountability) do their dirty work. Oh, I forgot we (blacks folks which is normally the majority who frequent this establishment) don't matter so we just serve them anything like in slavery days & they better not say anything about it. Restaurants' hospitality in general in non existence basically everywhere you go unless it's a 5 star plus restaurant maybe. So, I had to drink a Mountain Dew & watch my wife & son enjoy their meal as my stomach growl in my back. Thanks for opening my eyes EL GRECO for opening my eyes now it EL BYE YO Y'ALL NAW I'M NOT COMING BACK NO MO NO MO!!!#BLACKMONEYMATTERS
P.S. Let me give my disclaimer: This isn't a black or white issue but it's all about respect both ways. You want people to give excellent reviews about your establishment then give the same outstanding service to everyone...
Read moreYou can't beat El Greco for the amount of food you receive. In 20 years I have had only 1 complaint and it was not about the food. It was about a member of the wait staff. I have not scene that individual since she left us sitting in our booth for 20 minutes when there were only 2 tables in the entire joint vacated. Other than that you will ALWAYS leave with enough food for a light lunch or 1 whole meal the next day. The food is nothing short of delicious and the soup and deserts are amazing !! I love the pumpkin bread and cornbread in the bread basket, which are served year round. I often wonder why I cook, because the meals taste like they came from my own kitchen. Good home style cooking and I CANNOT make it at home for the money. It would cost me 2-3x the amount for the ingredients alone. For 3 people expect to pay around $50 with tip. Friday I had the fish fry on Friday and ordered the Perch...the waitress made a mistake and gave me walleye accidentally...the pieces were HUGE..the length of a woman's size 6/7 shoe !! I was shocked...I had a couple of bites and because, where on Earth can you get Perch for 11$ with soup and desert for that price is unheard of around here. You would be paying an easy 14$ for a small sized portioned perch dinner like this in Wisconsin any restaurant that has fish fry Fridays you aren't paying less that $16 for a perch dinner half the size of this. And folks-the Walleye was the same !! Generous, huge meaty portions. Seriously, I could only eat one piece and had two fish sandwiches for me and my hubby the next day. My son had eggs, pancakes, 4 pieces of bacon, two sausage links toast, & hash browns with cheese. I upgraded my cup of soup for a bowl of clam chowder instead. Like I said desert was included! My grand total was 24$ now beat that if you can. I recommend the Angus blue cheese burger with shreddedonions rings! To die for !! If you're in town...do it !! Did I mention...
Read moreI/we eat here ALOT, but a few experiences were horrible based mostly on several unfriendly or rude waitresses, including today.
Our waitress, Theresa, was very awful!! Never brought bread basket, didn't ask what we wanted to drink, brought my dinner and just potatoes with his entree WHICH FINALLY ARRIVED 5 minutes later with no apologies or reasons why.
We had to ask her to bring coffee and a soda for my husb when she never asked at the time she took or order. She argued with my husb that we didn't want anything to drink but water, that wash a boldfaced lie!
I had to ask for refills of coffee and water 1/2 way thru our meal.
My husb was so angry starting with our soup served with a plastic soup spoon, He almost walked out becaise she was not friendly and want enthused to be working ! He won't be back until management returns from vacation!. Even the fill in manager didn't ask how our meal was. I am soooo disappointed that some waitresses arrnt interested in having customers return. good customer
The bus boys and several cashiers and waitresses are excellent and deserve customers to return! Another bad service occurred another recent Monday meal that had similar lazy service by another waitress in the morning. The front desk that time were so apologetic they offered a take out coffee and free sweet dessert from the case. The fill in manager tonite never asked us how our meal or service was. My visits will be greatly reduced ,especially when my favorite staff...
