Gateway Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Mineola

We went to try Gateway Bar and Grill in Yantis last night and were informed that we would need to eat on the bar side because of lack of servers. Right away, you could smell the cigarette smoke but, realizing it was a bar and grill decided to go ahead and try it out. The man leading us to the table was very nice and told us we would need to be patient. When the waitress came to take our drink order, we were friendly and speaking to her and her response was “I’m too busy to have a sense of humor right now” with a huge scowl on her face. It shocked me because I’ve never had a waiter speak to me so rudely. We still attempted to order our soft drinks and you could tell this young lady was very unhappy by the look on her face. We decided to just call it quits and try another restaurant. I completely understand that there is a lack of servers available right now, but that’s no excuse for a server to be rude to a patron. We were ready to be understanding and patient, but were not ready for rudeness. We left and went to Neon Moon right down the road and had excellent food and service!! I know I was there on half price burger day. However, I was there at 503, they start orders at 5. My mother was there before 5. The service was almost non existent. It was almost 20 minutes before getting to order. Everyone around us had there food well before we did. At 550, I asked about our food and it finally showed up. When my mother complained, as we were leaving, the owner/ manager followed her out the door cussing her. Claiming she was lying and check the film....blah blah. She was a regular and knew to be there early to order, her order was written down and on the table waiting for me and be turned in, at 503pm. It was ridiculous treatment for...

We arrived in the Lake Fork area on Super Bowl Sunday. We called ahead and Momma D (a delightful lady)reserved us a table right in front of a big screen. Gary, the owner, was kind enough to stop by and share with us the way he sources his food.

The place was packed but Gracie and Whitney attended to our every request. We did not wait for anything. Outstanding service!

We both had the cheeseburger. I would have never thought that I would have to go to little ole Yantis, TX to eat one of the best burgers of my life.
