I’ve been working in the Hale neighborhood for a while and would pass by Huie’s Chow Mein almost daily, but had never stopped. That is until today. I got the lunch beef with broccoli special that comes with chicken fried rice and an egg roll. My coworker got the roast pork lo mein lunch special with chicken fried rice and an egg roll. I also got a small hot and sour soup. Everything was excellent and piping hot. The vegetables were all crisp, so you could tell it’s made to order. The egg roll was excellent. Lots of cabbage and pork filling. The hot and sour soup was also great. It didn’t have tofu, which I’m accustomed to. It did however had roast pork in it, which was a delicious surprise.
There is no interior seating. Just a very outdated waiting area & cashier stand. Don’t let the look of this waiting area be your judge about the experience. The food was excellent. There’s a menu posted on the wall but ask to see a to-go paper menu, there’s a lot more options in the paper menu than are on...
Read moreI thought I would help this restaurant because they do not have a website. The only pictures you can see are from other customers so I took pictures of all of our food. We were very happy with the choices and we both felt like it was really good flavors on each different entrée.
We got the chicken lo mein, the beef with mix vegetables, the pork egg foo young, and the pork fried rice. Two appetizers, the steam dumplings, and the eggrolls. My favorites were the steam dumplings with the excellent sauce , the white meat chicken lo mein, and the pork egg foo young. The sauce was authentic and have great flavor. The eggrolls are kind of boring and taste so like any other restaurant, but I was happy with the large servings and prices were amazing. They really should have a website with current prices and menu but even though we didn’t know the prices, it was a super great value when we got the total at the pick...
Read moreWe ordered "To Go" and unfortunately did not eat until we got home which was on the other side of town. (38 mi Round Trip) This was the worst Chinese we have ever had. The chicken had the slimy, puffy texture of meat soaked in a tub of salt water. Everything was tasteless and/or stale. The vegetables had obviously been frozen after they were cooked, and reheated in a microwave. Sauce was old and flavorless. Deep fry oil had not been changed out in quite some time, and tasted rancid. We are trying to figure out where the good reviews came from because there was not one item that we were served that was good. We will definitely NOT go back to this place and we would caution anybody thinking about it to take the good reviews with a grain of salt. We threw the whole mess in...
