Yesterday I told my wife we're going to get some ice cream today while we were out garage sale shopping. We live northern Plainfield so it's about an hour round trip there and not a simple hop, skip and a jump away. Since I[we] have never been here, I said today is the day and off we went. It's a quaint little place in the middle of a parking lot of the Minooka Police Department, Village Hall and Community Center pretty much in the middle of an open field. Keep in mind there are no public restrooms here but the Community Center was open as my wife needed to freshen up a bit. We both split a hotdog and a sloppy joe while I got a butterscotch shake and she a death by chocolate sundae.
The hotdog was kinda mleww but hey, what do you want? A hotdog is a hotdog right? I really did like the sloppy joe though and I don't know if it's homemade there or bought from a food vendor, but either way don't change it!!! It was that good!!! I really enjoyed my shake which had good flavor and texture and wasn't just flavored milk, while my wife really enjoyed her sundae which according to her could have been a bit bigger for the price and I agree. Overall though for 2 hot items and 2 cold items it was worth the twenty dollars and change.
This may have been our first time here, but it won't be the last......
Read moreI am incredibly disappointed. I have been a customer for years and I have never experienced worse customer service. Tonight, I ordered a small chocolate dipped cone with sprinkles. What I received was just a small vanilla ice cream cone with sprinkles. Patiently, I waited for the young lady to finish making someone else's order. After waiting five minutes, the ice cream was dripping all over my hand. Finally, the same lady finished the order. I said politely, "excuse me, but I asked for this to be dipped". I understand mistakes are made, and I do not have a problem with that. However, when the young lady replied, I was stunned at the attitude she gave me. She rudely said to me, "no, you asked for an ice cream cone dipped in sprinkles". I said that I did not and I repeated my order. She proceeded to mock an apology without even looking at me. Not wanting to cause a scene, I just said okay and went home. One of the first things that I learned throughout my years of working in customer service was to always keep the customer happy. The cone was only $2.30. All that I wanted was for it to be remade. Instead, I received attitude and...
Read moreI have to update my original review. The new ownership did change the recipe to be consistent with their other locations. It's still good, but no longer amazing. It has lost that true old-fashioned custard style soft serve taste and is much more expensive. I can honestly get similar or better soft serve at Culver's, and the ice cream is now on par with Dairy Queen. I miss the old Minooka Creamery!
Minooka Creamery is always worth the drive! And the lines are long for a reason. This is the real deal for ice cream - perfect soft serve and amazing selection. Other places say they have custard style soft serve, but Minooka Creamery is one of the few places in the area that delivers it with the perfect flavor and consistency, and always at the perfect temperature so it's not soup within 2 minutes. Nothing is more disappointing than being handed half-melted ice cream. Minooka Creamery soft serve can stand up to hot fudge, blending, etc, and still be perfect. They also have great dairy-free options and food. Highly...
