We've been going to El Rincon for years and have always liked it. Sadly, we have just visited for the last time. On our most recent trip, we had to order carry out via Grub Hub. We placed the order, INCLUDING A TIP FOR A PICKUP ORDER, and were notified as we pulled onto the parking lot of the restaurant, that the order was ready for pickup. Perfect timing we thought as we entered the restaurant.
It was fairly crowded, and several employees walked right past us, ignoring us, as we patiently waited for someone to help us. We decided that standing politely and waiting wasn't going to get the job done, so we stopped employees as they rushed past us asking who we'd talk to get our pickup order. Everyone said it would be someone else, but no one helped. As we were speaking with the last employee, a couple walked up to a different employee and told them they were there to pick up an order. That couple got "their" food and left. We moved up immediately to inquire about our food. After more than 10 minutes of them trying "to find our order," they admitted that they had accidentally given our food to the last couple that came in even though that couple's order wasn't done being prepared.
At this point, we are now into this at the restaurant for 25 minutes. They apologized and said they would make the order right away. I explained we were in a rush and weren't sure we wanted to wait, but they insisted that it wouldn't be long as they had already told the kitchen (presumably when they were looking for the "lost order") to refire the order. I begrudgingly agreed stating that I thought they should comp some of the cost of the order for the inconvenience. (The restaurant didn't even have a chair for us to sit in while we waited.) At that remark, the employee just sort of looked befuddled and walked away. When we finally got our food, I again stated that they should comp some of the bill due to their error and the time and inconvenience to us. They refused. I then said that I at least wanted the TIP that I pre-paid to be returned to me and they refused that as well. Now nearly an hour into our visit and having guests at home waiting for us to show up with dinner, we walked away and decided that would be the last time we would visit El Rincon. Our guests were gracious about having to wait so long for their food but admitted that "it wasn't worth the wait." as the steak was gristly and tough, and the queso was bland. Very embarrassing after we had hyped up the place.
A restaurant with good customer service cares to get it right, and when they make a mistake (as everyone will) they make good. If it was my restaurant, I would have comped the whole meal and thrown in a dessert to show that I valued their repeated business. Instead, they made us wait a ridiculous amount of time for an order that was supposed to have been done when we walked through the door, gave us gristly, tough, bland food, charged us full price for their screw up and even kept the tip. ...
Read moreOrdered to go from this place. Never tried eating here before. Ordered three different dishes and to be honest I was so disappointed! Started with placing the order online through Waiter app because when tried calling them you can tell someone was picking up the phone and hanging up on me. Arrived. Walked in to the restaurant. It was to be honest a chaos. No one even checked on me and my son until good 5-7 min later and you couldn’t even ask anyone for help because all of the waiters just kept going back and forth. Finally someone asked us what we were there for. I told her that I had a pick up order from online purchase. It took awhile to get our order. Food was just piled up in a small aluminum container. Fried food was all soggy because the lids were closed.. disappointment… You could not really taste anything because it was just a big blah.. I’m not sure if it would make a difference to actually sit down and eat in the restaurant versus takeout, but I don’t think I’m willing to give it another try. We did not eat the food. I would probably suggest switching the boxes for the fried food and not trying to cram everything in one...
Read moreWe were headed to our favorite restaurant and since it was closed we decided to head to El Rincon. We dine at mexican restaurants regularly but havnt been here in a couple of years. First off between the loud music and people screaming to talk to each other it's extremely noisy and good thing it's not summertime cause AC seemed to be out and a little warm inside. As others have mentioned their seemed to be a language barrier with servers and good possibility of messing up your order. I really not sure about my partners meal but I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were possibly the worst I've ever experienced. Chicken sliced thin and thrown on flat top without seasoning and ended up dry and simular to jerky only flavor was some char from burning. The small flour tortillas were semi hard and stale. I have no clue why this place gets such high reviews cause I've had better $10 fajitas from the place down the road. Only reason I scarfed them down was cause I hadn't eaten all day and was starving! The term dry as dirt comes to mind. Epic failure on these...
