We used Sonja for numerous cakes- weddings, groom’s cakes, baby showers, gender reveals, birthdays, and more. Obviously we enjoyed working with her for what we determined was 13 cakes, easily totaling over $1,000. That enjoyment ended last October when she completely refused to work with my sister for my nephew’s first birthday and flat out said “No, can’t do that” regarding a small teddy bear smash cake. Her response was surprising and we deemed it as maybe something going on in her personal life which was common in 2020. We thought we would give her another shot as she had done so many cakes (and posted them on her Instagram feed) for us previously for my son’s birthday. I messaged via Instagram DM and never received a response although the message showed “Seen”. Followed up a couple days later and again zero response. I then typed a very pointed message that displayed my disappointment in the lack of professionalism and not even the common courtesy of responding to a message with “Sorry, I’m booked” or “I can’t take your business.” Again, that message was “Seen” and there was zero response. I am always happy to support small businesses when possible, which I have no doubt shown Sonja support, however I highly recommend you find someone else who will value your repeated business and show...
Read moreWe were very disappointed in Sonja. We told her our ceremony would start at 5:30 and that we needed the cake delivered to the venue at 5:45. At 6:30, Sonja decided it was a good time to show up, as everyone was ready for the cake, and she still had to decorate it with the decorations she had made us purchase. We texted her multiple times asking where she was.
We ordered 2 cakes. A wedding cake and a sheet cake. To our surprise, only one cake was made, and it was the wedding cake. Sonja thought it would be a good idea to just add another layer to the wedding cake since she got sick and couldn’t make the sheet cake. She also never texted me or my wife to make sure that was ok. She just showed up late with that extra layer of cake that we didn’t order and still charged us the same price that was originally agreed upon for 2 separate cakes.
I know this is just our experience, but when you are planning on a key person to deliver your cake on time to your wedding and it shows up an hour late, it's tough. In my opinion, I would recommend looking for someone else to make your cake or make sonja give you a written contract with exact times and products you want that she must fulfill.
She burned us, and I don't want you going down that path on your...
Read moreFor my first cake tasting experience, the meeting was uneventful to say the least. We were given ONE choice to taste for starters. And we had already tasted that kind at a bridal expo we had gone to previously. She made the decision herself that typical white wedding cake is what we wanted. She never asked prior to the appointment what flavors we were interested in although she advertised for them. I just assumed she'd have them all if she didn't ask us prior to our meeting. She was not at all friendly to us either, in fact she was quite rude to me. When I inquired about the possibility of another flavor of cake, I was made to feel like a complete moron by this woman. She didn't even entertain the idea. The cake was dry and overpriced. It was the most expensive quote we got and I would think our (naked) cake should've actually been cheaper than the typical beautifully ordained white wedding cake...less work, less icing. Fruit was not included in that price either. I was in charge of getting the fruit. I drove two hours for that. Thanks...
