We've been to Michael's multiple times before and have always had a good experience. And we were happy when we left. Tonight was not the case. We had reservations for five and checked in only to hear that they would clean a table and be ready soon. Meanwhile, another group of four came in a few minutes after us and was sat immediately. Upon our arrival at our table, we noticed that the four had a table right next to us. Seems like they were more important than us. But we ordered drinks only to have them brought to the table and one of our orders was a Vodka and tonic tall. The waitress delivered it and it was in a small glass. (Smaller than two of the other drinks requested.)The waitress even mentioned that they didn't have the drink in a tall glass as ordered, but then did nothing about it. My friend was a bit put off because even though the waitress knew about it, she did nothing to correct it. Eventually I ordered a vodka and tonic for him to be out in my tab. Then our food came. (And it did seem to take a while) I ordered the grilled prime rib and it was a bit overdone, (I ordered medium), but it was doable. But not the normal experience. Another friend ordered a filet medium well. (They have a disclaimer about not being responsible for med well or well done steaks) But it was extremely blackened grilled and crispy and just looking at it would seem to say it's way overdone. She didn't eat much of it. Disappointing. In addition I had asked for a glass of wine shortly after receiving my meal and got the glass with one bite of prime rib left. Again, disappointing. But what bothered me the most is the fact that never was there ever an ask of "how is everything". Just seemed like it was take the order, get them the food, and get them out. We have never felt this way after having a dinner there. I hope it's a one off, but because they were not busy on the 3rd of July, we talked about is there something going on that we don't know about. We'll most likely be back at some point, but because of what we spent, and the indifferent service level, it might be a while. We want you to do better. Hopefully you take this positively and correct the...
Read moreWe made reservations on Saturday night for 4 at 7:30 for a window table. We arrived at 6:30 so we could enjoy a glass of wine in the wine bar while we waited for our table. We were greeted by a scruffy looking guy in a blue shirt (who we since found out was the owner). We told him we would be downstairs, he then came down 5 minutes later and said your table is ready. I told him our reservation is not until 7:30, he then said, well it’s ready now and if you don’t want it, it might not be available later for you. He was being pushy and we felt rushed. We told him that we made our reservation at 7:30pm and he just shrugged. Needless to say, we took the table because we did not want our night to be ruined! The reason we made reservations for 7:30 is because those tables are too hot until sun starts setting!
We ordered a $225 bottle of Dom Perignon. A young gentleman brought it to our table lukewarm, opened it and placed it on the table next to us, letting it get even warmer! I was about to refuse it when someone came by and I complained about it being warm. After another 5 minutes they bought out an ice bucket with a little ice in it. We all poured our ice waters in the bucket in the attempt to cool it down as it was very hot in the restaurant. Two waitresses apologized for the young gentleman stating that he was from the Netherlands and that he was not properly trained. This is no excuse for this.
I feel the scruffy guy (Owner) needs to educate himself and staff on serving expensive wine/champagne and he needs to treat his customers with a little more respect… Also, they must have more consideration for the time of their reservations! They said they might not have tables available at the time we made a reservation, yet, there were 4 open tables at 7:30 pm and later. We felt they were trying to rush us in and out and not cater to a wonderful dinner experience.
I cannot say I will not go there again, as the food was excellent and our waiter was excellent! With that being said, the wine deal and the owner ruined the first part of...
Read morePoor Professionalism!!! Unimpressive food/ambiance!!! First off —Tried to resolve with reviewing privately;on Bistro review; where reservations were made. However “Brent” simply replied “I’ll ask the waitress staff what happened”…..Had reservations at 7:45 and all went well until we were being seated and one waitress staff spilled/dropped ice then kicked it across the hardwood floors! My partner wearing heels was hit in the foot and I stepped on pieces myself. As for food !!! Prime rib was decent; partners beer battered shrimp were not a hint of “beer batter” … My dinner had a baked potato that was so dry and old tasting I didn’t eat but 2 bites: then as we waited for more dinner rolls with our entree, we were told the kitchen “burned” them and did not get any until we were done eating. Hoping to get dessert as they “advertise online/food reviews” we were told they had ZERO lava cake and “maybe” a piece of expresso ? Type cake? Sucks because we would have went to Domenico’s had we known the level of “non fine dining”!!!!! Btw- thanks for the lack of following up. You got our money and I rather would have resolved this without airing this experience! But others need to know especially as hard as people work for their money and spend dinner out should be of value!! Big fat “F” for your establishments “First...
