I love the Fireplace. It's basically a neighborhood type dive bar. Very friendly people, good drinks and small food offering. They have a pool table, game machines and the best karaoke on Fri and Sat nights.
They have recently had a bit of a facelift and the place looks great. They have also elevated their drinks with holiday special menus. I love the fall caramel apple martini! DELICIOUS! They also make a great white russian for a reasonable price. I've had the smore's dessert which is a cool experience and the pizza which is consistent and good. Service is quick and friendly and sometimes they even have a employee offering food samples.
I really enjoy that the karaoke crowd is kind and there to have a good time. They are friendly and will sing with you and cheer you on. The guy who runs karaoke is polite and does his best with your songs and rotating the list of singers.
They also have the cleanest restrooms I have ever experienced in a bar! This is not the kind of bar you go to and avoid using the restrooms, its one where you feel comfortable and they always have soap and towels for handwashing!
The only downside is that their parking lot is tiny and once its full, you are basically out of luck. There isn't any overflow parking, so I do recommend...
Read moreI've lived in STL for over 40yrs and last night was my first time here. I've clearly been deprived all that time. Fun, quirky, cozy place with great service and ample room to spread out and have fun. As others have said, great dive bar, hidden gem, etc. In the case of this place, it's both the journey (to get there) AND the destination (a place you want to be) all in one. From the super cool 100+yr old one lane bridge on the road in, to the money stapled to the ceiling, this place would be equally at home in places like New Orleans or Chicago. I will definitely be back. EDIT: Yeah, I went back, this time on a Monday night. Just wanted to grab a beer and a pizza and maybe play some pool. Was surprised and absolutely DELIGHTED to stumble in on this group of maybe 10 musicians who sit around a big circle of tables and play! The instruments ranged from guitars to banjos to a ukulele to keyboards to BONGOS and even spoons. No amplification provided, just acoustic jamming and some singing, just for the joy of it. They let me sit in on a couple songs with my blues harp. Apparently, they are there every Monday. People, you need to know about this place if you want a cold frosty one on a random Monday night...
Read moreWhere do I start. Have been waiting 45 minutes on our food. Drinks aren’t bad but service really sucks. Bartender was making a dirty martini for me and in the middle of making it hands me the glass and didn’t even bother putting olives in it. So an incomplete drink was served. Still waiting on our food after now 50 minutes of ordering. The staff is friendly enough but I think John taffer needs to come here instead of sending a lackey and give them some advice on keeping the customers happy no matter if they’re regulars or not. the pizza my wife ordered wasn’t correct. She ordered taco pizza with no onions…. It had onions… so they remain it so it took even longer for her to get her food. I ordered chicken Philly and it was served without any condiments or any napkins. I have a beard and everything gets caught in a beard. Anyway our bill does not reflect the quality of food or service. Would not recommend going here. I don’t think any of them have much bar and grill experience if at all. Bartender never asked if we needed a drink or anything really. We had to engage the bartender. Was going to do an interview with the owner but we were ready to get out of there and go somewhere where we actually...
