Service was great. Atmosphere was nice. We sat outside. Only drawback was that Fred the cat sat next to us and begged for food for quite a long while in between visiting other tables.
We ordered street tacos, enchiladas, and a chile relleno. The food literally came in 2 minutes from the time we ordered. Our server almost apologized for how early he delivered the food.
This is when I should not have ignored the major red flag that went off in my head! How do you make enchiladas and rellenos in 2 minutes when you have to bake them for like 15 minutes to cook them properly?! Were we lucky and we go an order someone had already put in and then cancelled? Did they somehow magically know what we wanted before we arrived and looked at the menu?
No, it turns out they did not even bake the rellenos or chile rellenos! They assembled them like the street tacos and decided to serve them to us and hoped we wouldn’t notice! Because we were so hungry and the non-confrontational type, my girlfriend and I just sat there and ate it. She ate the dry rolled corn tortillas and I ate the runny relleno. The street tacos were properly made but the grilled chicken on one and beef on another were dry. The carnitas was decent though had chunks entirely of fat.
Clearly something was up in the kitchen when we ate there. A new chef that didn’t know how to cook standard Mexican dishes? I think rather something more nefarious was going on and they were in a rush and decided to pull one over us. And we let them do it without speaking up. I feel ashamed that I did not ask our server to immediately bring back to the kitchen and find out what was going on!
I really hope this establishment gets their act together and serves food with integrity!...

It's the best food this side of Columbia. it's always fresh, flavorful, and authentic. But what really sets El Vaquero apart is the incredible service. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and they truly go above and beyond to ensure that you have a great dining experience.
I've been to another Mexican restaurant in town a couple of times (that place on 24) and unfortunately, it doesn't even come close. The other restaurant was overpriced, the staff was rude, and they even lied to us about including silverware in our to-go order. They didn't just forget to put it in, that's understandable... They lied about it. We said "Is the silverware in the bag?" They said "Yeah!" and we said "Ok great! Cause we're going to eat at the park and last time you forgot... and you tie the bags shut so we didn't realize until we were there and we had to leave to go find silverware..." They said "It's in there! 2 sets! I just put it in!"
There was no silverware in the bag. 🤦
El Vaquero is consistently affordable, friendly, and attentive. No matter many times I go, the only disappointment is when Ive eaten it all, and I have to go home where there's just boring stupid home food. 😪
Overall, I cannot recommend El Vaquero enough. If you're in the mood for incredible Mexican food and exceptional service, this is the place to go. Don't make the mistake of going to the other restaurant - trust me, it's just...

We told a waitress that the ground beef was very greasy and she said she would have the taco salad remade however a few minutes later another female came out of the kitchen with a fresh batch of ground of beef and said I just want to show you the ground beef is not greasy at all and refused to replace the taco salad and still making us pay for this greasy one and we were treated very rude by the 2nd female from the kitchen who didn’t speak English very well.
EDIT: This picture was taken AFTER transferring all the food off of the plate to another one. This isn’t typical of this place but the food and service this time was not acceptable.
2nd Edit: the woman who was originally rude did come to the register after I told the young girl there that we were not paying for the taco salad and she rolled her eyes and got a snarky attitude ( the young girl ) the one who was originally rude did apologize and said I know your family comes in here a lot and I am sorry it was greasy this time after trying to say my wife did it somehow. She did remove the taco salad and said that prices are high right now and she couldn’t afford to remake it for free but would remove it since it...
