During a recent stay in New Jersey, we decided on thai food and chose NaaMo due to the positive reviews. It was a little far from our hotel but worth the drive. The restaurant was packed with elderly clientele and every seat was filled. Unfortunately, this meant we had to wait for an hour for our takeout order, but after a long exhausting day at Hurricane harbor, we lacked the energy or enthusiasm to try another restaurant.
My husband loved the duck and said the sauce it came with was amazing. It wasn't what he was expecting based on his past orders of crispy duck at various thai restaurants, but he was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed it. My children loved the pad Thai and my picky daughter enjoyed and devoured her calamari and fries from the children's menu. The drunken noodles were also good and in my true fashion, I always add eggs which may be a reason my pic looks a little different than normal drunken noodles.
The host was extremely nice and accommodating and ensured we had enough plastic ware once I explained we were in a hotel and didn't have utensils. It wasn't automatically included so if you need utensils, ensure you ask. The restaurant was clean as well as the restroom and was overall, a very well decorated restaurant.
The only odd thing about the restaurant was the location. It is across from a large senior center which explained the age group of the customers. The stores within the shopping center were all closed ( Saturday before 6 PM!) and we even saw a Dunkin Donuts turn off the lights and shut down for the day at 7 PM. We were shocked but the restaurant is off the beaten path in a very quiet area surrounded by a new home development and there wasn't much traffic nearby.
Definitely worth a visit if in the area and we would return, we would just order before arriving at the restaurant rather than having to wait in the car for an hour with sleeping and exhausted children while our order was prepared. That was our mistake since we wanted to first attain a menu before...
Read moreIt is not kid friendly, I myself am a teenager and went with a group of older teenagers, we are all high-schoolers. My family and I have previously had take out from naamo and had passive rude behavior, anytime we would go in the main manager would approach us, request and take our card in not the nicest way to say the least, she would rarely say thank you and ask us to use the side door to leave. We dismissed these experiences because we assumed she was stressed working a busy restaurant as someone who we identify as a managerial figure at Naamo. When we went in person our entire group felt watched the entire time, she let out a slight laugh when we asked to keep the copy of one of the menus after we had all ordered our appetizer and entree. Our waiter was extremely kind and although it is unfair to her to give the restaurant such a low review, it is expected after the way we were treated. After we were done we asked to pay, we did so and left a small tip, not a typical 20% which I do accept was an error on our part but I do not think we deserved what happened next. As we were leaving the entire restaurant was empty, the managerial figure halted us from leaving and we were left dazed, we had paid in cash and had double checked the amount. She scoffed at our tip and said "really?" in a snarky and rude tone. She just waited there and indicated that she wanted us to add to the tip, we only had a few dollar bills and a twenty, we only tipped her the remainder of the dollar bills we had, she again did not say thank you and immediately started complaining about our tip to the waiter that had served us. It was a rude experience and I personally will not be coming back here because it was not fond at all, the food was amazing but feeling watched, laughed at, given snarky remarks, and held from leaving just for a tip was not at all professional and would not recommend this restaurant to an unaccompanied group...
Read more5 Stars – Atmosphere and Food That Deliver Naa Mo is an unexpected gem in the Plainsboro area. We came in not knowing what to expect and left absolutely impressed.
The atmosphere sets the tone right away—warm hardwood walls, gold accents, and lamplight that feels classic, almost like an old country club reimagined with an Asian flair. The space is intimate, maybe 12–15 tables total, but it never feels cramped. You’re close enough to sense the buzz of the room, yet spaced comfortably so your dinner still feels private. The symphonic music in the background was a nice touch—refined, not distracting.
We started with tofu fritters and spring rolls. The fritters were fine—fried tofu is never going to blow your mind—but the peach sauce was delicious. The spring rolls, though, were next-level: crisp, fresh, and easily some of the best I’ve had in the area.
For mains, we ordered shrimp pad thai, beef green curry fried rice, and Goong Pra Ram (shrimp with peanut-cashew sauce). The pad thai was excellent, and at $16, shockingly affordable compared to most places around here. The Goong Pra Ram leaned on a peanut-buttery richness, and while the shrimp could’ve been bigger, the flavor carried it. The standout dish was the green curry fried rice—spicy but in a sophisticated, layered way. The heat lingered like a friendly reminder, enhancing every bite without overwhelming.
The check came to $75 before tip ($89 with a well-deserved 20%), and for the quality, it felt absolutely worth it. Naa Mo delivers on atmosphere, service, and flavor in a way that makes you wonder what a lot of other restaurants in the area aren't doing quite right. You'll be planning your next visit before...
