I wish I could say something better about The Barn Restaurant and Allenberry but sadly we now only go for the plays. Fingers crossed. Negs: - Fall Menu lacking varies choices and out of selections to make it slimmer. - slow to get food or attention. - staff (other than servers) still non verbal. They talk to no guests. I say “still” because of a previous time I approached staff and they shun you. - desserts listed on menu not available. - value for price 👎🏼 Pos: -Hostess was nice enough, servers friendly. Reservation taken to a seat right away. Nice anniversary card at table. - Beautiful atmosphere. - clean bathrms We went to The Barn Restaurant on 10/22/25 for our anniversary dinner and spent $120 w/o the tip and left thinking it was nothing impressive for the price. First when you walk into the main entrance, before walking to the barn entrance, 2 “girls” were at the front desk and I expected a nice greeting or how can we help you. Nothing. One sitting ON a desk, both just gossiping. We found the restaurant entrance ourselves. At least the interior signs are good. Our server was Jonah and I will say he was super nice and seemed knowledgeable. We tipped him nicely for this. We know he can’t control the speed of the food coming out. (So slow) He was able to substitute 2 of the sides that came with my steak. Although the one side included still came out and my one substitute was a spoon full of practically nothing. Pics of the Brussel Sprout mess. Steak was mediocre. Looking forward to my favorite dessert, I was informed they were out of the crème brûlée. How do you run out of custard that you just light on fire? Leaving, girls at the front desk. Still nothing. No good night, no thank you for coming. They had a lot of non work related things to do. Allenberry used to be the high class go-to place where you felt welcomed in a special event. The general staff that you see on the property all needs replaced. Same experience at a wedding show I attended in 2021. Tried to talk to wedding planners and no hellos, no info given, standing around talking personal stuff. The owners must not push good personalities any more.

I had decided not to write this review until this morning when I opened up my email and found that Allenberry was offering pre-made Christmas dinners. I felt the need to share as a heads' up to anyone considering this option. We ordered our Thanksgiving dinner from Allenberry in advance. I've always cooked but nothing is quite normal this year anyway so why not. As we read over the menu, we were tempted by the cornbread stuffing (the only kind we eat), the ham, turkey and green bean casserole. I picked up the food without issue and promptly put it away in the spare fridge. Much to our surprise, on Thanksgiving Day as began heating everything up, did we find that our "cornbread stuffing" was actually very lightly seasoned torn apart white bread. Yuck! Disappointed, but pressing on, I couldn't help but notice that something looked off with the green bean casserole. Why? Because they were SUGAR SNAP PEAS. What the heck? No one called to ask if these substitutions would be okay, no emails etc. What if someone had allergies to sugar snap peas? I WOULD NEVER HAVE ORDERED THIS FOOD had I known I wouldn't be getting what was on the menu. Shame on them for not even reaching out to let us know that they were out of cornbread stuffing and actual green beans. It's not ok to substitute without some kind of consent. I guess they figured they got my $185 and didn't care what we thought of the food itself. I still have failed to mention the turkey was skinless and clearly cooked with a fast cook method that simply cooked the turkey through without any added flavor. Servings were also inconsistent in size.. LOTS of the cheap food, such as mashed potatoes, but barely any cranberry sauce and almost no gravy. This is our second experience at Allenberry in the last year or so. Both times we've been disappointed. Never again will we order a pre-made meal from this place nor will we dine in.

Summary: Based on our service, we won't return to the Barn. I gave them two stars because the food was good but not good enough to overcome taking 75-minutes to get our order out (and only after seeking out a manager for assistance). In short, the service was abysmal. More details are below...

Our first and last time dining at Allenberry.

We made reservations for Sunday brunch at 1:00 and arrived early. We waited for several minutes for assistance because there was no hostess. A server eventually helped us, asked us to wait a little longer, and found us our table.

It took a little while, but our server finally came to our table. One guest in our party had significant allergies. We asked him about egg and peanut allergies. He started to guess at how the food was prepared, so we asked him to check with the kitchen. Good thing - he had guessed wrong. Once we confirmed what everyone in our party could eat, we ordered.

Our server refilled our water glasses three times but never gave us an update on our order. We waited for just under an hour before asking about the status of for our food. He said that there was a party of twenty in front of us, never mind the fact that we arrived and ordered before this party. Then he offered to check with the kitchen on the status of our food. He came back out and said that it would be another five- to ten-minutes. I think he could have handled this better had he given us an update after 30 or so minutes and offered us an appetizer (or something) to help hold us over while we waited for our order to be prepared.

I finally got up and asked the bartender to see the manager. He asked about my issue, so I explained some of it to him but said that I would prefer to speak with the manager. Then he told me that he was the manager (something that I thought he would've told me when I first approached the bar...). He said that he would personally see what the hold-up was and asked where I was sitting.

The bartender/manager went into the kitchen. Our server shortly came out of the kitchen with a tray of food that was for a table that arrived approximately forty-five minutes after us. Another server came out with dessert plates for the party of six sitting next to us. When our server came out several minutes later, he had two of our four orders and returned with the other two about three minutes after that. My food was barely warm, but everyone else's food at my table was hot and tasted good (hence the two- instead of one-star review).

The bartender/manager never followed up with us. He never came to our table to apologize and check on the meal once we were served. In short, our server was ill-prepared to perform his duties and the manager...
