Genusa’s isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience, a culinary journey tucked away in the quiet shadows of Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana. Walking in, you can feel the weight of anticipation, the promise of something unforgettable. And from the very first bite, it delivers.
We began with the fried goat cheese salad—a dish that could stop time. The crispy exterior of the goat cheese gave way to a soft, tangy interior, a texture so perfect it felt like the universe was conspiring to bring this moment together. The flavors danced on the palate with a complexity that hinted at something far greater than just a simple salad. It was the kind of appetizer that doesn’t just set the tone but raises the bar.
Then came the cannelloni, and suddenly, all other pasta dishes felt like they were playing catch-up. The creamy, velvety cheese filling and the rich, decadent red sauce weren’t just balanced—they were a symphony. Every bite was a crescendo of indulgence, the kind of comfort food that stirs the soul. Just when we thought the appetizer course couldn’t get any better, a cup of Alfredo sauce arrived—a revelation in itself. Paired with the complimentary garlic bread, it became an irresistible dipping experience that transcended the boundaries of any ordinary starter.
But the main course—oh, the main course. A 9 oz filet, cooked to medium perfection, so tender and juicy it almost seemed like a sin to eat it. The seasoning was masterful, as if the steak had been kissed by the gods of flavor themselves. And then, the genius move: pouring the extra Alfredo sauce over a side of garlic noodles. It was the kind of pairing that shouldn’t work as flawlessly as it did, yet it transformed an already exceptional dish into something otherworldly. The richness of the Alfredo clinging to the garlicky noodles was pure, unadulterated bliss.
Genusa’s doesn’t just serve food—it crafts an experience that lingers long after the meal is over. This isn’t just the best steak in Monroe; it’s a contender for the finest dining in all of Louisiana. It’s the kind of place that makes you question every meal you’ve had before, where even the smallest details feel like a celebration. Without a doubt, I will return, eager to relive this unforgettable evening in the heart of Monroe’s culinary...
Read moreA Monroe CLASSIC!! This was my first visit since the accident. MAKE SURE TO CALL DAYS IN ADVANCE IF YOU WANT TO ENSURE A TABLE AT A DECENT TIME! The new "post fire" building is elegant and clean. The better news is the food is still fantastic. The dip for the bread was nice, as was the fresh garlic bread. The steaks were REALLY nice. Perfect cook, super tender and as long as you like a little rosemary in your seasoning on your steak, it was absolutely wonderful. The seafood pasta was mildly spicy and heavily garlic flavored. The shrimp were nice and not overcooked and there were a decent amount of lump crab bits. The fresh veggies in the pasta were really nice. The spinach was good, but the mashed potatoes with cheese were fantastic! The bread pudding was the best we have had in a good while. The service was spectacular. They checked on us regularly without bugging us constantly. The prices are not meant for someone on a tight budget, but not so high that it's not affordable for most for a nice birthday or anniversary meal.
Well, back again 3/12/24. This place is sooo good and SOOOO consistent. The steaks are super flavorful and very tender...as a fillet should be. The duck appetizer is one of my favorite apps in town. SO MUCH DUCK! with a great sauce and...
Read moreWhile attending a dinner party to celebrate a co-worker's retirement, our waitress instructed us to order one of each item on the "limited" menu. (Appetizer, entree, salad, etc) There were no prices next to the items on the printed "limited" menu. Much to our table's surprise, we were each charged for the items separately. Needless to say our tickets ranged anywhere from 50-80$ per person. We were informed that if we were "regulars," we would have known how the menu is priced. I will not be a regular at this establishment. Very disappointed in the customer service and hospitality. I do not mind spending money on a lovely meal and dining experience. However, this meal and experience was very lacking. The lasagna was overly salty as was the attitude of the staff. I would not recommend Genusa's restaurant to anyone who wants a meal that equals the cost. There are far better choices in Monroe/West Monroe. I will stay with my other favorite locally owned restaurants who are known for excellent food...
