I am in Monroe for work, so I was looking for a solo dining place without a bunch of bells and whistles. Kravins was recommended by two people at two different stores, so I figured I'd give them a try. I walked in and was disappointed by the menu. Not because it didn't look good, but because I wasn't in the mood for what was offered (I kinda felt like eating pasta and I should've looked at the menu before I got there, so this isn't a negative on the restaurantat all). Nevertheless, I decided to give them a try. It really wasn't what I wanted, so I sat looking at the menu being indecisive for a while. As I'm standing there, no less than 6 people either come in to order the Louisiana rub wings or come to pick up an order with that flavor wings. Let me say this: I don't like wings. Not because they aren't good, but because finding a place to do them right is so darn difficult. I asked if they had boneless? No. I asked if I could get the tenders in the Louisiana rub? No. But I wanted to know what the hype was so I went with the combo which included 6 wings, a burger and some fries just in case I was disappointed in the wings. The customer service was great, and the two ladies at the front were patient as I asked a bunch of questions and continued to be indecisive! I placed my order and waited. More people coming in to pick up orders of these wings and place orders. I got my food, thanked them, and came back to my hotel. On my way, I ate some fries. They were hot and fresh and didn't need ketchup which I liked. I made it to my room and grabbed a wing. WHEN I TELL YOU THE HEAVENS SANG!!!!!! Fried to perfection. Seasoned to perfection. Juicy and tender. Spicy. DELICIOUS! By the time I ate three of them I realized I hadn't even tried the ranch. When I did, AMAZING! Those wings are in the top three best wings I've ever had! Mad that I only got 6, I tried the burger. It was just a burger. Nothing special about it. Was it nasty? No. Would I tell you to go there to get a burger? Also no. But I am telling you to go there and get those wings! I have added them to my travel list, so the next time I am here for work (or otherwise), I will definitely be back!
I would add a picture, but those wings are...
Read moreThis was our first time here and the First Lady who helped us with our order was so friendly and even helped us move some tables together so our kiddos and us could all sit together. The food was amazing!! The bathroom door was broke and you have to ask for help to get out of which I wasn’t a big fan of.
When our food came out there was another lady that was helping and my friend with me asked for a cup of ice because they gave her canned soda and it was hot but the lady working didn’t acknowledge she asked for it so my friend thought maybe she didn’t hear her and asked me to ask her. I went over to ask her and she said oh mam we don’t give out free ice it’s 2.49 for a cup of ice if you want some but I’m getting your friend some because her drink is kinda hot. I then explained it was for her and she didn’t know you heard her. If you’re going to provide canned sodas a cup of ice should be an option with no charge that’s ridiculous. She was extremely rude about it as well. Also before we asked there was a man that came in and didn’t order anything and was asking us for money at the table and they gave him a cup of ice with no problem but yet their paying customers they were rude about it?? The next problem was when the food came out our order was wrong… I ordered the 5 tenders for my kids to split but the lady at the beginning said we only have it in an order of 6 and I said oh that’s fine but then they came out as wings and when I said something they tried to talk me out of getting what I ordered and saying oh the tenders are spicy and the kids won’t like them and I had to repeat myself a few times. I wish they would’ve told me that ahead of time because I would’ve re thought my kids order to begin with. They also didn’t have a...
Read moreMy last down-home cheeseburger was about a year ago, so before I hit the I-20 Interstate home today I decided to make a stop at Kravins. I had heard good comments about their hamburgers. A friend and I headed to South Mun roe to give them a try, and it was worth the trip!
Greeted with a smile by the staff behind the order counter. Took a few minutes to place my order, paid, and took a seat on the long black wooden bench in front. Watched the chef begin to prepare our meals. But then took a look around.
Nice decor. Black and earth tones. And I especially liked the black barndoor that separates the restaurant seating from the bar. It facilitates hosting private events without disturbing regular business. In fact, with the two patio areas, several groups can gather at one time without one disturbing the other. Great!
Music was a nice touch. And then a staff person brought our meals. Went to a table to put down my food. Clean. Visited the Ladies Room. Clean. And the food. Just like last year! A generous hand-formed patty on a fresh, slightly toasted bun. Fresh lettuce, tomato, and onions. A touch of mustard. Perfectly browned fries, and a cold Sprite! Delicious!
And on my next visit, I will try the homemade pound cake or the...
