Main Street Tavern — Restaurant in Monson

Been meaning to make this review because it was ridiculous what happened when we were there… it was Jan 18th, a Saturday night and my husband and I went in for drinks. They were pretty busy.. which we expected. As soon as we walked in, the greeter girl said we could go to the bar for our drinks but If we can’t find a table we could go to a booth instead. Okay cool. We went over and sat right at a free table directly in front of the bar and my husband stood at the bar to order us the drinks. The older woman behind the bar rudely asked him “where are you sitting”? And he pointed to the table right in front of us. She goes “you have a waitress, you need to have them take your order”. It was so rude like she was acting like we did something wrong. So she rushes over to get one of girls to take our order instead 🙄 and was rude to her about it too..acted mad at that girl too.. saying we have to wait for the table to be cleaned until we can order anything… okay sure. She cleans the table, we told her we are just ordering drinks, again. She gives us the menu and disappears. We sat there waiting and waiting for her to come back.. way too long. She should have asked if we knew what we wanted before running away. We could have ordered & been drinking our drinks at this point. Irritated, we just decided to leave.

Very unorganized and rude when they are busy. We’ve been there before for dinner & they were great. Why were we not allowed to order our own drinks when sitting 3 feet from the bar? No, you are only allowed to if you are sitting around the bar physically ONLY. Do not even try to get up from your table to order a drink or you’ll get scolded. I’ve never been to a bar that has acted like that. Just a really crap experience that made us feel...

I've been here multiple times and have enjoyed each and every opportunity here to eat the staff is always prompt courteous and friendly. although when you order a bar drink expect it to be a bit on the strong side which for most people's pretty good but my wife found it to be too strong for her. I have since revised myreview for this place to two Stars based upon my recent experience doing takeout I ordered chili for takeout I got a very small container that was equal to about one-third of what the normal serving size was charged the same price and it was less than I would have expected in appealing that you when I got it home. I would suggest if you go here don't take anything take out or check it out real close before you do take I'm seriously considering making mine a one-starin fact I'm going to make it one star just for that reason because it seems like if you're going to do take out your penalized. Steer clear for takeout or check first before leaving....

Kind of found this place on a whim. I was in the mood for poutine but didn't want to head to the Big E. I found out that they serve it and decided to go. The poutine was excellent. The best I've had outside of Canada. A bit more black pepper and it would have been perfect. That was an easy fix with the shaker that was on the table. The gravy had a nice strong beef flavor and was nice and thick. The portion was more than enough for one person. So much so, that I barely ate the homemade potato chips that I wanted to try too. The chips were good, but slightly overdone for my tastes. The dipping sauce that came with them was kind of bland. My blueberry beer was excellent and so was the service.
