I have a passion for bbq, and its not often i find a restaraunt that can compete with what i smoke myself at home. North Village Smokehouse has the best BBQ I've had from a restaraunt since huckleberry BBQ in fanning springs changed owners. I've had the brisket, fried chicken, ribs, and cornbread. The brisket was expertly smoked with great flavor that complemented the rich, flavorful meat, rather than trying to cover up inferior quality. Everything else was also great, with the cornbread being another amazing standout. Flavorful, crumbly without falling apart, and most importantly, moist. 'Fresh' cornbread that is indistinguishable from stale is an all too common travesty. The atmosphere is dim and subdued with varnished tables that make it easy to tell that they have high standards for dining room cleanliness, and an evocative atmosphere that includes a shrine to the King and a full bar. An easy choice for BBQ if you live nearby, and it's my brother's choice whenever he visits. To be clear about the comparison, north village smokehouse beats out every place I've been to in Texas (Houston, ft. Worth, Austin, and Killeen predominantly), Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, the carolinas, mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, oklahoma, and Florida. The only two that might compete but don't quite reach the same level are a couple Styrofoam containers only places in Birmingham, al and murphysboro, il.

This place is not pretty on the outside but has absolutely fantastic food and a very accommodating staff and owner. I am usually disappointed with what passes as service in most places these days. The North Village Smokehouse understands how to speak to, treat, and serve people at a level I have not seen in a long time. The food was excellent! High quality food that is very fresh. You can see the smoke rings in the brisket and the pulled pork was moist with just the right amount of fat for flavor. The baked beans are NOT baked beans. The baked beans are more like a chili with large beans and various meats. The "sticky" sauce I think it was called was unique and went great with the cheese curd. There was a nice gentleman playing acoustic guitar who had a great voice. It was NOT overpowering preventing you from having a conversation. Just pleasant background music with just the right touch of personality to engage the diners. Excellent all around with not one issue. Thank you for a great experience!

I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon and was excited to try some great smoked meat, especially after smelling it in the parking lot! We chose a seat in the corner and were greeted quickly by a server. We were told the specials and ended up ordering the turkey, chicken, cheese curds, collards, coleslaw, and mac n cheese (we love food). The sides are WAY bigger than any other bbq place I've ever been to, which was a great surprise. They were also delicious and well made. The meat I felt was average in price, maybe a hair above, but it was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. We were given 2 types of sauce and I wish we had been told what they were since we liked both a lot. I recommend a visit to this place however it's cold inside! In all fairness I do run cold, but myself and fiance both left our coats on during lunch. So be prepared! Also Interestingly this place doesn't open until 1pm, so don't get there for noon!

I don't often write reviews but my experience at North Village Smokehouse was terrible. I ordered brisket/mashed potatoes, my partner ordered the ribs/pickled cucumbers/cheese curds, and our friends ordered the Kielbasa sandwhich and pulled pork/Mac and Cheese/cornbread. All of the meat was served cold. The brisket had absolutely no flavor and my friend stated the pulled pork was similarly bland and declined to finish the Mac and Cheese or cornbread. On top of the issues with the food, the service was very poor. The server disappeared for extended periods of time despite the restaurant being fairly empty and took an exceptionally long time to return with our cards once we paid. A different server brought our food out and spilled the cheese curds (totally fine, accidents happen). The server then asked if we wanted the ones that spilled onto the tray and proceeded to scoop them up barehanded and toss them into the paper basket. As a server, I know one of the most important things is to not touch food barehanded. Overall, we were highly disappointed and we had a much better...
