The Whistle Stop Cafe — Restaurant in Montague

It's difficult not coming off as a "Karen" these days when you have a horrible experience at a restaurant. Here's my experience in a nutshell. We waited an hour and a half for our food. We watched 4 other tables be seated, eat ,pay and leave before we got our order. When I finally brought it up with the waitress, she admitted they made a mistake and "lost our slip" and offered the 4 of us a muffin. It's an understandable mistake, but how they chose to handle it was very unprofessional. The owner didn't offer to comp anything and changed me full price for the meal. Throwing his hands up and acting like it was just the way things go sometimes. I've had a few other bad experiences there, but always felt like they were trying and working out the bugs. After this, I can't make any more excuses. I will never eat there again. Making a mistake is understandable, choosing to be cheap and not try to make up for it is just bad business. We ordered via GrubHub while renting an Airbnb in seemingly the middle of nowhere. The order got delayed and then GrubHub canceled it, after almost 2 hours of waiting for our food. We scrambled trying to order from someone else when the cafe called me and said they could deliver the food anyway! It took almost another hour but we were totally okay with it, finally getting the food at our little off the map house. I am so thankful to this cafe for taking the time and effort to ask and get our food to us despite GrubHub's ridiculous action. Amazing customer service and going the extra mile! We've been 3x for breakfast and I can't wait to go back when my daughter is in town. I've had fruit pancakes, sausage and home fries each time. They are the best pancakes I've ever had! I don't know what the chef does but they are light and fluffy with a little bit of crisp around the edges. So delicious! My son-in-law got the "hobo special" and raved about it. We both thought the home fries were perfect. Of course, my granddaughter was very happy with her pancakes stocked with fresh fruit. The atmosphere is quaint, small town, diner vibe.
