When I got to Boris I had to wait almost 8 minutes before being acknowledged and taken to a seating booth. After being seated, the service was So-So, the waitress was nice and pleasant. However, she was not very knowledgeable about what was on the menu, nor did she know prices on drinks or other items. I also got the wrong type of ravioli, when I got my dinner I had ordered the fried cheese raviolis for dinner and I ended up with the meat ravioli. (Which unfortunately I did not like.) The food is okay, but overpriced. ($2.50 for a CAN of soda that normally would cost a $1.00, maybe $1.50) The atmosphere is musty, dusty, & smells old and mildewy. The candles on each table is a nice touch. The chandeliers for the soft lighting that they use are just gorgeous though. The decor is beautiful warm wood all-around but so much is outdated. FROM MY EXPERIENCE AT THIS RESTAURANT, THESE ARE MY SUGGESTIONS: If booth seating & free standing chairs were reupholstered, in a more comfortable, Italian stylized finish. The table tops matched the wood on the walls & the bar top. The carpets on the floor taken completely out and the floors redone in either a wood that matches the bar top or a linoleum or tile floor in an Italian configuration, style, and color. Then have a complete cleaning overhaul with scrubbing down everything so that the smell, dust, and mildew, would go away. Polishing and shining all wood furnishings within the building of the restaurant to make the wood pop & stand out, so people can notice how beautiful the wood is. Cleaning up those gorgeous chandeliers so that they look they're absolute best. (Not all old things are bad, some are beautiful and should be appreciated.) Use softly scented candles on every other table to give a warm delightful smell throughout the restaurant. (Like a mix of cinnamon and rose tea candles.) Revamp the menu. Updated it with a newer look using a new font and better detailing. (Patrons always want to know what they're getting.) Last, but certainly not least, is RETRAIN the waiting staff. Make sure they know the menu, menu prices, bar, bar prices, all seating and seating arrangements and the history of the restaurant. Thank you for your time and...
Read morePlease don’t be dissuaded by my rating, I do recommend you come here. I’ll start with the bad, then the good.
The place needs a good steam cleaning.
The bread served isn’t bread. Closer to a stale cracker, served with the tinfoil packets of butter associated with diners.
Ministrone was so-so, a single chunk of potato and three pieces of pasta graced my soup bowl. Broth is a heavily cooked down tomato base, tasted closer to the spaghetti sauce they serve rather than the fresh vegetable stew I typically associate with ministrone.
I will never pay money for the salad here again, I remember it was almost comical when it came out. Toppings are as follows: 1 slice of pickled beet, 1 baby carrot, 1 slice of cucumber, 1 pickled pepper, 1 slice of salami, 1 slice of pepperoni; served over a bed of iceberg lettuce. You can get better stuff out of a grocery store bag.
Spaghetti was decent, no fresh Parmesan. Sauce is the Italian-American classic “Meat-Sauce”, almost closer to a chili. I’d eat it again.
Onto the good.
My god, the Rib Steak. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with salt and black pepper. Finished with butter, holy hell I will come back here for this single slab of meat. Melt in your mouth, with a perfectly sized bone to gnaw on when you’re finished. I’m writing this while basking in my food coma from this glorious steak. Please, if you wish to have a holy experience, you need to order this steak.
Wait staff were very polite as well. I’ll be...
Read moreWe eat here every time we are in town but recently ordered takeout for the first time and were extremely disappointed (to say the least). We placed a $200 order and when we went to pick it up they wouldn’t let us check the order in the Resturant because they were busy and ensured us they had checked it. We got to our hotel only to realize we had no soup or sides. I called back and no one could even find our order (the Resturant is very disorganized)…finally they found our order and told us to come back and they would have everything waiting. When we returned not only were our missing items not waiting for us but again no one could find the orders. The staff were extremely rude and treated us like we were trying to steel our sides of soup from them. 30 minutes latter (nearly 3 hours from when we placed our original order and after spending over an hour in the car going there and back) we finally had our complete dinner. At this point we realized our fried chicken was missing the breast and prime rib was way over cooked. The worst part was no one ever even apologized for the massive inconvenience or the fact we ate dinner cold. We even tipped them and still had nothing but nasty behavior. The food is not worth being treated like this. They have lost a very...
