Lovely atmosphere, I just can't believe the waitress we had, she's been a waitress for sometime I'm sure but it really surprised me she barely came to check on us after we received our meal. I myself was a waitress and I use to even own a diner so to all you waitresses out there if you want good tips and I mean GOOD TIPS especially from someone like me that's been there and done that, it DOESN'T MATTER what you think about the people at that table or around you, keep it outside those doors and when you come to that table smile, grin and bear it. CATER TO THAT FAMILY LIKE THEY ARE YOUR ONLY CUSTOMER, that's for every table you have that day. Clear those dirty plates, refill those drinks, constantly check to make sure they are doing good. IF it's your break time go tell your customers your going on a quick break but you want to make sure they have everything they need. Let them know your name as soon as they sit down. I guarantee you 99% of the time you'll receive awesome tips. Now don't get me wrong there are people out there that CANNOT AFFORD TO tip a lot or even Tip at all but don't get upset at that table you don't know their circumstances just remember there are others that will make up for those customers. SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST PLAIN RIGHT STINGY AND WON'T TIP. But remember I do and if I get great service I give awesome tips because I've been there. ALWAYS SMILE, GRIN AND BEAR IT, AND ALWAYS STAY FRIENDLY TO THE CUSTOMERS, Believe it or not in the olden days you use to get your tip before you even waited on your customer because they wanted good service. TIP stands for. TO INSURE...
Read moreThe three star is a combination of service and food. The service is five! Awesome server and host and hostess. The food barely a two. The salad...way too much frozen cocktail shrimp and very little krab, no seasoning and over a bed of bagged premixed salad. Suggestion...lemon wedge, black olives, red onion. Do not order the Grill salad if you simply want a pile of cold soggy shrimp. A special dressing would enhance this salad. The soup...mushroom steak...more like a wintery stew, decent flavor, not many mushrooms. Suggestion: lighten the base add more mushroom flavor. The rib eye... Oh sweet Jesus... Paying 34.00 for a maybe a 1/2 cut, fatty and pan seared was awful. No sear on it. Smothered in special seasoning...yuk..steakhouse this place is not. Suggestion: 1 inch cut. Learn the proper way to pan sear. The rib combo, sauce okay could use a hint of smokiness...very sweet. The rib cut...well both pork and beef should be prepared better. Sauce only on one side and it was not charred just sauce poured on top. The meat was not smoked or prepared with flavor...a good restaurant would prepare the meat to stand alone and sauce to enhance and a great restaurant doesn't even need the sauces to hide flavors..Taste your meat...rib joint this is not. The potatoes...twice baked was good flavor. There is a better way to prepare to look more appealing baked... Needed oil and salt to enhance while baking...sour cream was great. The presentation was not great and the entre was served in an unappealing trough...makes you want to get a to go box. The meat was not prepared with love. Again, great service but we...
Read moreOnce again the Montana City Grill failed to meet our expectations for a special dinner. The food is mediocre at best, one would expect a lot more for a $30+ entree! I ordered the prime rib to be cooked medium, it came out a bloody mess that I couldn't eat. The accompanying mashed potatoes portion was a 1/4 cup in size, not what one would expect in Montana! The gravy taste like it was made from a store-purchased package! Our other entree was the "sea bass special". There was nothing special about the 30 dollar piece of fish! It tasted like it was something left in the freezer that they were trying to move quickly! The salsa topping tried to mask this fact, but the salsa was rather bland, not adding in any way to the dish. The bake potato was your average baked potato, hard to mess it up!
The service was terrible to match the food. Our waitress was not seen again once the meal was served, leaving our drinks to run empty, and my rare prime rib sitting intact on my plate. When she did return she didn't offer refills, not did she inquire as to why my meal was untouched. When I did speak up to complain all she could do was show me where she noted "medium" on her order pad. I'm glad she did think, but this proves she did not follow through to make sure the meal was prepared as requested. Then she was off, returning with the bill for the full amount, doing nothing to rectify the situation. I left the restaurant hungry and very disappointed by the experience. We will not be returning to the Montana City Grill anytime soon if this is their standard for food preparation and...
