My fiance and I fell in love with the old restaurant, so we aren't necessarily "new customers". We don't go out more than once every other month, but ever since they moved locations, it's gotten way worse.
So this story started about 6 months ago. My fiance ordered her usual chilorio and my usual carne asada chimichanga with sauce on the side (I like to keep the crunch alive, and just sensitive to the queso taste). I got my chimichanga and it was just smothered with queso sauce. I asked politely if they could remake it (to which they did). It took about 10 minutes to get my fresh chimichanga, only to find out 5 bites in, the meat in the center was literally fridge cold... The waitress (not the chef), apologized sincerely. She had it remade for me to take home (because I wasn't feeling too hungry after that), only for it to get soggy and just disgusting. Throughout this whole thing, my wife's food is perfect.
Now 6 months later, we decided to go back again to give it another try (because we know it's good). Now, I'm really not too familiar with proteins and their names, so it's always hard every time I go in, to remember what I got last time. I always narrow it down to 2, suadero or carne asada. I don't know how I could've messed up the 2, but I did. I ended up ordering the suadero instead of my regular. They asked me if onions and cilantro were okay, to which I said, "yes". They gave us our meal, took a bite of my chimichanga and knew instantly I messed up really bad. Now I don't know what they used to season the meat, but it was absolutely flavourless, even with the queso sauce on the side... All I could taste was the crunch, and a mouthful of onions and some gray square steak bites. I really just want to have what I always remembered getting at the legion in Lonsdale, but this has been a very disappointing journey.
This review is explicitly about their chimichangas. In regards to their fries and other dishes that my lady ordered, they are all great. Who knows, maybe I caught them on their bad days. I paid for the last one and just had them toss it. I know that last one was my fault, but a picture of the proteins and how they look would be very convenient for people that are maybe new to the...
Read moreThe place far exceeded my expectations! We tried several dishes here during our visit to Montgomery. Everything was incredible! The attention to detail, freshness and quality of ingredients is wonderful. Staff was so helpful, and attentive. The chef came out personally to ask how things were and to share his process with some of the dishes. You can definitely see that food is his passion, and it is evident in his food. I cannot pick a favorite, as everything was good- within the week, we tried street tacos with each of the proteins, the birria tacos, telco fries, crispy shrimp tacos, street corn, and a burger. The terco rice is so flavorful and very unique. Each salsa is homemade, fresh and has a different flavor. I also tried the monthly special, the Cuban arroz con pollo with plantains. The desserts have so much attention to detail and are an incredible mix of flavors. I only wish I was in town for the pork and dumplings special, as I am sure it was incredible!
I would very highly recommend trying this place if you are in or near Montgomery! You will not be...
Read moreWe visited Taco Terco on Saturday May 24, 2025 with friends. We had heard about Taco Terco from my brother-in-law. Our friends had also heard great things about Terco. We were not disappointed! We ordered two appetizers; birria wontons and chicken nuggets. Both were really good. We each ordered a different entree; chimichanga, birria tacos, Mexican corn bowl, and the birria grilled cheese. We all were very happy with our choices! The flavors were great, and you need to try the variety of sauces. Our server was great! Very knowledgeable, knew the menu, and recommended things for us to try. We finished with an order of the churros! A must if you go! Delicious, and served to us by owner/Chef Daniel. He was very cordial and appreciative of our visit. His wife/owner Cara also came out to see how our visit was. Both are very personable and are very passionate about what they do, and it shows in all aspects of the restaurant. The restaurant is located in the American Legion in Montgomery, MN. The four of us highly recommend Taco Terco to any one who enjoys great...
