First timer. Went in on a Thursday night. Love the vibe. What worked: greeted and seated right away, drink order at the same time. Chips and salsa were ample and on point. Food was ordered and brought out in a timely manner. Why 4 stars? What didn't work: the server brought the food and never came back, not even with the bill. We had to get up and seek out condiments, and then seek out the bill (which we were able to get at the register). All in all, a great first experience and we will come back! Thanks. P.S. To the long table of women with kids. Bravo, most of them were funny and cute. We enjoyed watching them. To the woman whose toddler screamed and cried the ENTIRE time we were there. Maybe next time you should take your food to go and get that baby home. It was miserable for everyone there. I'm a mom I get it, kids cry. But when you are unable to calm them, it is time to go. Even your friends were exasperated. ✌️

Was ok for a Mexican restaurant. I usually try to avoid any Mexican restaurant outside of the big cities. Food was pretty good. We drank the horchata and jamaica. The jamaica was too watered down and the horchata had a weird after taste. And we had to ask for straws when our meal came. The steak street tacos were ok, but the corn tortillas were too sweet. Daughter ordered a #1 tostada with quesadillo, and the tostada was soggy from the beans and other sauce that was put on the plate. And we had to ask for silverware and napkins. May be back, but next time I'll break out the Spanish to see if the service is any better.

I am picky about Mexican restaurants and I have to say this hit too 5 in my book. Spent the weekend at the lake and randomly chose this place to get some Mexican food on cinco de mayo. The prices were amazing, our server was amazing, loved the unique decor, and the food was OUTSTANDING. And the margaritas were very good quality as well. I had the enchiladas Del Mar and choriqueso. Cannot wait to go back again!

California native and Bartender here visiting Monticello. Walking in felt uninviting, people huddling at the door, door was sticky probably hasnt been wiped down in months..server seemed rushed wasn't inviting or informing us of any specials or menu. The menu is a mess, new pricing is written in blurred sharpie. We decided to order some micheladas and a margarita before our food. The margarita might was well call it pinesol, tasted like cleaner, it wasn't slushy it was just watered down pinesol with a few cubes of ice. Im trying to understand how the bartender got a margarita to taste line pinesol? The Michelada was just clamato and beer nothing fancy. If this is what locals call the best Mexican, they have no clue what Mexican is. Walmart next door sells better canned salsa and bagged chips. Save the trip, and your money. Owner doesn't care about his establishment, service&presentation. He just swipes your card no...

I use to love this place. But the past THREE times I've ordered take out they have told me 15 min on the phone and I'm waiting over an hour once I get there. Reminding them POLITELY every time several times about me. This last time I reminded them the fifth time politely and they finally went back to get my food and gave it to me. It was so cold the tin packages were cold. To top it off they charged me 3$ for a fountain drink and handed it to me with the lid half on. When I realized it it was falling on the sidewalk. So I paid 3$ for ice and styrofoam to be crushed on the sidewalk out front. Not only that but all three times they make me pay when I get there so after an hour I can't just leave. Then when I get my food I have to argue with them Everytime that I've ALREADY paid! I'm done with them. I'd rather drive the 30 minutes to the plethora of other Mexican restaurants...
