I saw both good and bad reviews for Wagon Wheel Pizza, but I never want someone else's opinion to decide for me. My husband and I had spent the day at the Edge of Cedars Museum and Natural Bridges Park. I looked up restaurants in Monticello, where we're staying in an RV park while traveling, and some said Wagon Wheel Pizza was dirty and run down and not all that great. I will say that the walls could have used a good scrubbing, the tables are in need of refinishing and the seat cushions in the booths are torn, HOWEVER, that was the best pizza we've had in a long while. We ordered the medium Meat Lover's Pizza. It had great flavors and a delicious crust. I know the crust was fresh and homemade, because I personally watched the girl hand toss it. I had a small side salad, which was big enough to share with my husband. It was freshly made as well and had crisp lettuce, fresh sliced mushrooms, sliced black olives and chopped tomatoes. It would have had onion and bell pepper but I had them leave it off. Their lemonade was good as well. Good lemon flavor, but not too tart and not too sweet. All the young women working there were friendly and efficient. But, the most surprising thing of all, that I've never seen anywhere else, is that you order, then eat, but you pay for it all after you've enjoyed it. No other pizza place does business like that. I'd recommend the food to anyone, but if a tear in a seat cushion keeps you from eating good food, then find...

Searching for a clean table or booth is time consuming and not very welcoming. We settled for low grease and only one red sauce stain. Others after us generally pulled napkins and wiped their own.
Pretty much order at the counter and brought to the table appears the norm. Ok with that but the very likely cross contamination making pizza without gloves, serving, working the register, holding credits cards, cash and pens without hand cleaning would be a blatant health code violation. Duty assignments would be in order.
Same for the kitchen as we were somewhat entertained by having four people doing the work of what should be two. A trainee perhaps...so I'll give 'em a pass there.
The pizza was acceptable. As a loaded pizza about half the cheese and double the veggies and pepperoni would have been welcomed. The crust; med thick and crusty to my liking. The sauce minimal but fine.
Overall ⭐⭐⭐ seems fair. Recommend? Not really. Avoid? No I...
Read moreLet me say this people. BEST DANG PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! That statement is NO BULL!!! I have had pizza in NY,MD,TX,NC,UT and CO and nothing beats this pizza! The Meat Lovers pizza is like a carnival of meat flavors in your mouth!!!! The Mexican pizza is to die for!! I have had many different pizza’s from this place and all are good, and they can build a pizza to your specifications with their available toppings. The owner of this place has been doing this for over 30 years and she has it down to a science. There is a secret to this pizza that I will not divulge, Suzie can tell you when you dine or get carry out from her. They also have other Italian delights available, such as calzones for example, to choose from, but 99% of the time, pizza is my preferred culinary choice. Monticello is a small town, so don’t blink when you pass through, you do not want to pass WAGONWHEEL, if your visiting, or passing through this little gem in Southeastern Utah!!...
