We love this place, but we had an unfortunate (and baffling) experience tonight. After going there for dinner and being seated at a dining table with dinner menus, we were turned away from trying to order entrees as the “kitchen closed early” with no warning.
We initially chose H&T for tonight’s dinner because we had seen on Google Maps that the place was open until 2am, so we figured we had plenty of time to have dinner when we arrived a little before 8. The place was more crowded than usual when we got there, and two separate people at the hostess podium got involved in trying to get us seated at a dining table, informing us there would be a 10-15 minute wait. Once we started talking amongst ourselves to go somewhere else for dinner, the hostess and a waitress both collaborated to get us a table in the back dining room quickly. They were aware we considering going somewhere else and rushed to accommodate us, and placed dinner menus for us on the table.
We were greeted at our table by a male waiter, then by a female waitress who ended up serving us (encountering 4 employees total). We browsed the menu for a bit, ordered drinks, a couple of appetizers, but held on to our menus to order entrees later. After we finished our appetizers, the waitress came by to take our menus off the table. I asked, “Can you please leave those so we can order our entrees?” She told us the kitchen was now closed. This was around 8:25ish. The waitress told us the kitchen closed 20 minutes ago (our appetizers must have been one of the last orders). She deeply apologized, as she was new and no one told her the kitchen closed early on Sundays.
Again, we love this place, but I’m baffled that none of the 4 people we encountered while getting seated in the main dining room with dinner menus thought to tell us that the kitchen would be closing within minutes, when we were clearly there to eat? We’d kept it light on appetizers, so we were hungry and disappointed. If someone had warned us, we would have put our entree orders in sooner, but no one did. By the time we paid and got back in the car, it was too late to make it to any other restaurants before their kitchens closed too. To make matters worse, I am on crutches, so getting around with limited mobility isn’t something I can do lightly, and I need to be very selective about how I spend time on my feet. I pushed myself to get out of the house because we were celebrating and wanted to have a nice night. To go to another restaurant, even if it was open, would have been too strenuous on my injury. So, it ended up wasting our whole night.
H&T team, please do better. There is an option to add your kitchen hours on Google Maps. Don’t seat guests in the dining room if you aren’t going to let them order a meal before the kitchen closes. If someone is asking for a table and sitting with menus, it is your responsibility to make sure they can be served, and it’s also your responsibility to make sure your waitstaff knows when the kitchen closes on...
Read moreMy family and I visited Hearth and Tap to celebrate my son’s birthday, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional, thanks to our server, Christian. From the moment we arrived, Christian’s warm hospitality set the tone for a memorable evening. He greeted us with genuine enthusiasm, making my son feel like the star of the night with a cheerful “Happy Birthday!” that instantly brought a smile to his face.
Christian’s attentiveness was impeccable. He took the time to explain the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes. His knowledge of the dishes and genuine passion for the restaurant’s offerings made us feel confident in our choices. He even surprised my son with a special dessert, complete with a candle, which added such a delightful touch to the celebration.
The service was seamless—our drinks were refilled promptly, and our food arrived hot and perfectly timed. Christian checked in just enough to ensure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. His friendly demeanor and attention to detail made us feel truly cared for, turning a simple dinner into a joyful occasion.
Hearth and Tap is lucky to have Christian on their team. His outstanding service and heartfelt hospitality made my son’s birthday celebration unforgettable. Hearth and Tap is a watering hole we frequent and never ceases to amaze.
His accent is also a familiar charm, while being at an Irish pub in the states, and gives a even more authentic and...
Read moreWent to dinner to celebrate with 8 family members, service was absolutely horrible. One side of the room seemed to get water glasses refilled all the time and we never did. We ordered appetizers and took forever to come, than the drinks we ordered also took too long. Served a beer in a beer mug and asked for 2nd beer came in small appertif glass, what the heck? We waited over an hr for our dinners, also people that came in half hr later got dinners before us??? We asked and it still took forever, had ordered wine, but dinners were served and had to say where is the bottle of wine. The most offending thing about the restaurant was the smell of cigar smoke it permeated the restaurant, the waiters smelled of smoke and I felt like the food and everything smelled, it was sickening. We used to love this place but it was horrible. Unfortunately I had purchase a brunch coupon from living social and was not looking forward to it, because of the horrible service and awful smell. Now even worse, they seemed to have booked PRIVATE parties on the days I wanted to go, and now they are booked for the next month, so I have wasted the money on buying brunch tickets! I can sit in cigar bar if I want to, tells you something, the only place available to eat at is the cigar bar! They don't have any available reservation for my husband and i for the brunch coupon until after it expires. They say I can arrive early and hope to get a table outdoors....
