My wife and I went there last night for dinner. Who were immediately attracted to the interior of the restaurant. The lobby area had a steel floor that was very nice. When we were seated we loved the table tops that were done in a beautiful Chinese motif. The menu was full of many exciting things for us to try. Our waitress was very helpful and helped us to choose our selections. She said that each item was cooked as ordered and all was prepped and cooked fresh. She told us the cooking process was authentic and therefore not fast food. Ashley and I both understood that these type of meals take as long to prep as they do to cook. From the smells of the restaurant we realized it would be worth the wait.
Ashley ordered the shrimp fried rice and I ordered the scallops and shrimp Grill plate. Ashley's food was beautiful. The shrimp were large and maintained their color beautifully. Her shrimp was delivered over cooked rice with vegetables. Her meal was done as ordered and was with a lovely light brown sauce on a beautiful plate covered with painted reeds. My meal came next on a square plate that was large and covered with beautiful fresh scallops that have been cooked to perfection. The shrimp was similarly cooked exactly correctly. The scallops had been sliced after cooking and where moist and tender. A little muscle notch was quite firm but easily chewed. The very large shrimp were peeled down through the tail. I had a red sauce as well as the brown mustard to eat with my food. We each also ordered a pork egg roll. They were crisp and delightful. Very full-flavored.
I have learned in my life that fast food is never great and great food is rarely fast. Such was indeed the case last night. Our dinner was carefully and beautifully prepared. It was a wonderful touch of the Orient on a detour through San Francisco and New Orleans to a little strip mall in Moody, AL. WE WILL BE...
Read moreI went there on Saturday night, June 30th, and I wish I could say it was good, but the food was very poor. I put in a to-go order (which took way to long to fill), and I was highly disappointed when I got it home. I got the Sesame chicken (C14), and my son got the shrimp with mixed vegetables (C11). My chicken was tough and rubbery, and to tell you the truth, it did not have the texture of chicken. It was absolutely the worst sesame chicken I have ever eaten. The fried rice was bland, and it really tasted like boiled rice, not fried rice. It was simply not good. The worst of all was the hot-and-sour soup, which was the worst hot-and-sour soup I have ever eaten. I could only eat four spoonfulls before I gave up on it. It was atrocious. My son got the shrimp - he liked it, but he said the rice tasted boiled (not fried), and the soup put a bad taste in his mouth. The egg rolls were the best food in the bag. The total for the bill came to over $26.00, and I consider that the worst $26.00 I have ever spent. You would be advised to avoid this...
Read moreUpon my visit to L&L as a 'dine-in' exsperince, I was completely blown away by not only the portions of the dinner, but the clean establishment. The hosts were very nice along with the staff, as they've treated us before with 'take-out' exsperinces exceptionally well upon previous visits. The food special order was phenomenal an pure bliss. This pure jewel of Moody is a must see an exsperince, as the food was fresh upon presentation as well as hot. When my drinks of mine or my present companies was low, we was all met with a cheerful host that greeted us to ask if we needed refills, chopsticks, etc. Wonderful visit, just perfect so if your in the area you have to visit L&L Asian Restaurant.
