My wife and I went to this Gennaro's in Moorefield WV, because of the reviews. We must have chosen a poor time and day, 4:15 PM, Sunday, 9 Aug. 2020. There was no server to greet us or to seat us. There is a small sign which reads seat yourself. We seated ourselves and waited for plus four minutes before any server arrived in the dining room. There were only two other customers in the dining room. Finally a server approached our table and asked what we wanted to drink. My wife ordered a coke and I ordered an unsweetened ice tea. My wife got a coke and I received a glass of ice water. A long time passed and our server did not come back. I hailed another server to get ice water changed to unsweetened ice tea. This server was very polite and prompt with the exchange. Finally the original server returned to take our order. My wife's pizza and my small stromboli special arrived very promptly. Apparently the oven was too hot because the cheese and pepperoni were cooked and my stromboli was nice and brown. However, both were doughy and internally under cooked. We waited for five or more minutes and after seeing the other two customers were experiencing difficulties we went ahead and ate most of our food. The server did not come back until when we were almost finished and wanted to know if we needed anything else. My wife ask for and received another coke. The server then returned later and said "you don't want desert do ya?" We responded no thanks...just a box for the pizza. The server brought a box and our check. We waited for a long time for the server to return to collect the check and finally I got up and took the check to the back of the restaurant to the cashier. Completed the payment without a thank you from any of the employees standing in the area. This was a horrible dinner experience. We will not ever go here for...
Read moreOrdered for delivery at 11:00am to have lunch when I finished some yardwork. At 1:30pm I'm waiting they said it would be about 40 mins to make and then I only live 10 mins away.
I call ask what's up at 1:30ish pm, they say driver is almost here I say ok np.
I call back 30 mins later ask if he knows where he's going it's a pretty straight forward drive here and gps will put you in my driveway. They say they remade my food because it took so long but seem very confused and say it is again out the door on the road to me I again say ok np.
30 mins later I call and ask they have no idea what's going on and I ask if I can just come pick it up I ordered at 11:00am and it's pushing 3:00pm.
They say ok. Ignoring the fact they clearly lied about every other time I called I figure it will be just a bad day or busy for them and I drive there.
When I get there it's a ghost town minus one young worker and one old lady who must work there sitting in their empty dining area.
I tell them who I am and that I'm here to pick up. The old lady chimes in (I'm speaking with the young lady) from across the room saying I ordered it for pick up but said it was delivery. I correct her and say not only did I give my address several times but even the first call you said they were "almost at my house" with the delivery. She said "yeah sure" then went back to sweating while sitting alone in a dark dining room.
They charged full price for the food that was made at 11:00 (I hope it was made at 11 anyway cause it was garbage I couldn't imagine it was fresh).
Never went back and make sure I inform everyone I ever hear talking about going there of what happen to me. I gave them/you a extremely fair chance and you were very rude and untrustworthy....
Read moreJust horrible, called at 6:30 pm to try to place a delivery order only to be put on hold for 3 to 5 minutes, then they acted like it was my fault that there was something wrong with their phone because they could not hear me, so told them never mind and hung up, only for them to call me back, and the call was heard perfectly but anyway ordered the valentines dinner for two for $26.99 which included 2 portions of lasagna, fresh bread, two salads and two drinks. We paid by credit card over the phone and then the wait game begin, after almost 2 hours (8:20 pm) we hear a knock on the door, Gennaros delivery driver, only two portions of lasagna showed up, Well by this time the restaurant was already closed so couldn't call back in to complain, left voicemail, but of course no one returned my call that day, so I called in the next day they were open and talked to the owner, The owner did try to make it right with offering the bread , salads and the drinks, but who the wants bread and salad two days later. needless to say I paid 26.99 not including tax and tip for the delivery driver for 2 small portions of lasagna. I will never eat here again, with this being not the first time this has happened should have learned my lesson...
