We had dinner at Mullin’s 1847 in Moorefield, WV and tried the boneless pork chops and their special of the day, Prime Rib. The boneless pork chops were a bit dry for my taste, and the fries were too soft—they lost their shape when picked up. The loaded baked potato was tasty, but I wasn’t informed that “loaded” came with an extra charge when the waitress asked. That said, the portions were generous—so much so that I couldn’t finish both side dishes. The Prime Rib was a letdown. We ordered it medium rare but received it closer to medium. It didn’t taste like it was cooked as a traditional whole roast; instead, it seemed pre-sliced and cooked per piece, which made it dry and not as juicy as prime rib should be. At $34.99, we didn’t feel it was worth the price, especially with no mention of the cost beforehand. Despite the food issues, the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and kind. Also, their warm bread with cinnamon butter was a standout—absolutely delicious.

A must for anyone visiting this part of the country. Even worth a detour. This historic hotel/restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, interesting memorabilia and a friendly staff! We got the crab nachos - usually I’m not a fan of shellfish and this sounded like an odd combo but it was great! We got the grilled pork chop and grilled chicken breast with sides of baked potatoes and side salads. The food came out relatively quickly - you had just enough time to finish one before the other came. The food was fresh and delicious. Small things made a difference. The whipped butter they make in house was a game changer on the baked potato, the house made ranch was the cherry on the top of the salads. We unfortunately did not have space for dessert - the portions are very generous. At approximately $15 per dish, you get great quality and quantity of food.

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant tonight! Surprised with bread and cinnamon butter to start us off. Began with two local beers and the crab stuffed mushrooms. Excellent. Main course: we had the shrimp Alfredo and crab cakes - delicious! (Being served sauces in plastic to go while dining in was a little weird). Atmosphere: To eat where Ulysses S Grant and Robert E Lee once were had me geeking out! The history of this place is amazing! Our server was nice too! We will be back!

Upon completion of my meal, the waitress taking the plates from the table, took the unused silverware wrap that was given at the beginning of the meal, and placed it back into circulation with the clean silverware. I had placed the utensils on to my dirty plate, on top of the uneaten food that had been in contact with my hands and mouth, to make it easier to pick up all in one.

The fact that anything goes from the table top, where the potential for consumer contact, went back into the clean section without being washed, let alone the fact that it was on my used plate with consumed food, is absolutely unsettling and against all forms of restaurant standards and practices.

I imagine that since the little things are being overlooked, and what it seemed to be as a common practice as the individual did not hesitate to do this, that the larger and more intensive cleanings and health practices are not being taken seriously either.

On top of this incident, I saw the re-sanitization of the menu seemed to be a frequently used wet rag to wipe down the consumer used menu. Now I don’t know what the rag was dipped in, could have been a strong sanitation solution, but my best guess is that it was a wet rag from a sink or bucket of water that it sits in.

In light of this I had called and was refunded my total amount, which is nice of them, but should be pretty standard and warrants no real praise.

I would recommend that no one frequent the establishment as it draws concerns for public health, especially in a time of great concern with the worlds...

Wife and I ate here today for lunch for the first time ever. We walked in on a Saturday at noon and we were the only ones there which surprised me considering the reviews on here and the traffic going through town. No problem. Another small came in 30 minutes later then a couple as we were leaving at 1. Server was friendly enough. Wife got hamburger which was small but she liked it and small for her was fine. I got the Grilled Chicken Salad and an order of Teriyaki wings. I love wings and it has been some time. Salad was fine although the chicken was overcooked making it dried out. The wings arrived and as soon as I saw them I knew I was not going to like them. They arrived crispy as I requested but had the grayish greasy look with NO teriyaki sauce. Then I saw the sauce puddled on the plate under the wings. Not a bit of teriyaki sauce was to be found on the wings and the sauce was so runny that none would stick to it when I tried to roll it through. I have had teriyaki wings in probably 100 various restaurants and have never seen this before. The server did eventually come back and ask how were they and I was honest and told him. No mention of doing anything about it although I still had plenty left. No reduction on the bill or anything. I would not have sent them back as I am just not willing to do this. Just very unlikely we'll come...

When my husband and i travel we like to find places to eat that are not chains franchise's. Recently while headed home from a trip wr came across this restaurant. It was so cute, historic, clean and very friendly staff. We started with appetizers i ordered the wontons he got the crab nachos. The wontons were over fried in old grease and not warm at all. The sauce provided with them was very salty and unpleasant to taste. The nachos were cold and in one big clump. So my husband told the wsitress to bring me the fried mushrooms. Ive never seen so many mushrooms in 1 order. Then i tasted them. Theyre ur average frozen supermarket kind. And they too were fried in old grease but served cold. The ranch dressing provided had been watered down as well. I order the small ribeye entree and my disappointment continued. It was over cooked dry shoe leather. The baked pitati and greenbeans were very good however. My husband loves meatloaf (show me a man who doesnt...right) but he didnt not enjoy this restaurant's version. It was dry and chewy without much flavor and he didnt finish it. Our selection's were very over priced for the quality. We were excited to see such an historic place still operational but as our visit was so disappointing its safe to say we wont...
