Driving up seeing this monument in the distance is like seeing Mount Olympus. Your jaw drops in sheer awe as you enter this palace in the north. The smells hit like Hephaestus hammer walking in the door. The woman behind the counter elegant as Aphrodite providing your options of obtaining this delicacy made for gods, but bestowed upon mortal man. Quick as Hermes she swoops to the back and you hear a small tussle like that of Odysseus besting the Minotaur! Mouths watering waiting in anticipation she emerges. Handing us our parcel and a diet coke. We travel back to the overlook just up the way. Opening this package is a pastie fit to fell the hunger of even the mightiest of Titans! Eating this filled me after a long journey. 204 miles to be exact, with the strength of Hercules himself! I sat satiated on this magnificent view like beholding the scape of Tartarus in all its turbulent beauty.(it was starting to rain) content as Zeus upon his throne, we departed for the lost island. I will definitely make this journey again in...
Read moreGet the gravy, you won’t regret it. Stopped here after a long, cold and rainy day of exploring fort michilmackinac. I was a bit disappointed that there was no indoor seating so we ended up ordering to go - two beef and one chicken pasties, a side of gravy and some chicken and wild rice soup. Got back to the hotel cold and tired, and enjoyed a feast of hot flaky and flavorful pasties and delicious soup. I would say the chicken pasty was probably the tastiest, but they were both good. I only knocked one star off because the soups were stacked in the bag to go and by the time we got to the hotel the soup on top had collapsed the lid of the soup on the bottom and it had spilled and a couple shards of plastic got into the soup. Didn’t detract from the meal, but made a mess in the car. So, if you get more than one soup make sure NOT to stack them, because those soup lids are...
Read moreEstablished in the 1940's, this building is the original location for Lehto's Pasties that has remained in the family and is a very popular place for pasties. The guy at the counter was a super nice guy and told us a little about the history of the place. The interior had pictures and curios from long ago, including some merchandise they sell there.
This location only sells the Beef variant of pasties, which they man told us is the original. There is another newer building in town more near the bridge that sells chicken and veggies ones too. They can be ordered hot or cold/frozen if preferred. Would recommend getting there before 2pm as they said during the summer that's the time they usually run out of their 600 or so that they made up for the day.
Unfortunately they've lost half of the sign from weather or something but that doesn't take away from how nice of a...
