China City Restaurant — Restaurant in Morgantown

My son wanted to go for Chinese food for his 9th birthday, so we decided to come here. I am not a huge fan of Chinese food. The restaurant was in a strip + was more of an eatery. there are tables and chairs inside but it is not a large place. The staff was very friendly. One member of the staff could speak English very well and this made it a lot easier for my parents to order. There were eight of us in total. The food came out fairly quickly and it was hot + cleanly packaged. The food was brought out in to-go containers with a side of plates. I got the dish called "dragon into Phoenix" which consisted of some spicy shrimp and chicken with some vegetables and rice. I thought the food was good.

My only concern was that when my son used the restroom he said there was no soap in the men's bathroom. this is always a red flag for me because that means when the cooks use the restroom they are not washing their hands. 🤢

Could this just be a one-time instance, where someone forgot to fill the soap? Or is it something that happens too often here. Sadly, I do not think I will be back to find out but I would recommend that someone would give it a go, just maybe check for soap first...

Some of the best food in town and it’s run by very nice people. The last few times I ordered from here… the food was the best it has ever been. Has it been perfect every time? maybe not… A couple of times the chicken was a little tough by my standards but out of the 100s of times I have ordered a few slightly off dinners are going to happen. 9 times out of 10 it is excellent and that 1 time it might just be OK. Still better than just about anywhere else I eat. I read another review that said the prices have gone up and that may be true… but haven’t the prices gone up everywhere? It hasn’t gone up more than a dollar for the individual meals. Still a great deal for what you get, the proportions have not changed. Don’t let some of the mixed reviews sway you. This is a good restaurant and more people should support them. I would be very sad so see another restaurant I like leave Morgantown. We have lost to many restaurants to quickly in the last couple of years. I don’t want to see this...

We came here because of the reviews and ratings. Let me start by saying I am from out of state, but this location seems a little questionable. Maybe because it was later in the evening,definitely dark and I could not see real well. There was lots of police activity (traffic stops) in the area. Although they have tables (which we used) it was obvious this was primarily a take out restaurant. The service was very good though. I was amused at having a combination of plastic ware and actual plates/bowls for our "dine-in". The egg drop soup was very good. The orange chick was also good and full of flavor.
