3rd time is the charm. I had tried to come twice previously, early, but during posted hours and they weren't open yet. I called ahead this time and placed my order over the phone. It was then annoying to be told they had limited menu on Sundays. I ordered wings and gumbo. The wings were good and spicy, but not as crispy as I like. They're also on the bigger side. It came with seasoned fries which were fresh. The gumbo was good too, loaded with chicken, sausage and shrimp. It seems to be a local preference for gumbo without okra, which is the case here, even if they have fried okra on the menu. It was however expensive, I would've preferred a smaller portion. Given the size, 16oz, it wasn't a bad price, but would have been content with a 4/8oz size. This restaurant, which we found through Google Maps, is an absolute treasure!!! We had the shrimp burger and the chicken burger (with Kurbsauce!,) cheese grits, the BIGGEST fried green tomatoes I've ever seen (and, the best, right after mine!,) and an incredible x- rated brownie!!! Staff was sweet and knowledgeable, food was amazing, prices were very reasonable, and health department rating reflected the cleanliness of this hidden gem. Recommend you try it RIGHT...
Read moreStoppes here on our way through to bay st Louis. I love picking little tucked away spots to eat while traveling. This has to to be by far the best experience i have ever had. I had an open face blackened shrimp plate and today I was lucky enough to get collard greens. And man if you like greens these ladies know how to do it. Man they were amazing off the charts good. I wpuld reccomemd this place to anyone amd will talk about this for years to come. The two ladies inside were sisters and so pleasnt. Made me remember some people still understand southern charm...
