After tonight, I will not be back. I order a single cheeseburger and a hot fudge cake. the server mentions the cake is buy one get one free- to which I decline as it's just me. I request the ice cream to be placed in a separate container as I have a long drive home and don't want the cake to get mushy. It's loud inside, the server mumbles something and gives me my total- I pay and don't think much of it. they make the cake with the ice cream in one container. -No big deal, I ask if I can have the ice-cream on the side, or a second container and can do it myself, they say no- they can't do that. -I'm confused and ask why? the server doesn't answer the question and just says he could put the hot fudge on the side if I wanted. -I reply, "the ice cream will melt on the cake and make it soggy before I get home." (Mind you- I have ordered it this way many times before without issue.) Another server steps in and apologizes saying "she knows it's silly, but the owner won't let us do that. if anyone did it for you before, they shouldn't have." I ask for a manager. -Manager comes over. I ask the same question. first, she say's "well it's the cost of the cup...." I respond, "i don't mind paying extra for the cup." she back tracks and says "well actually it's the cost of the ice cream" I tell her I will pay extra. i also mention the ice-cream is my least favorite part and i don't care if it's just a dollop of it, i just need it on the side is all. -she walks me back to the register and charges me an additional $3.50 on top of the $12 i paid for the single burger and this single serving of hot fudge cake. (Inserting reminder that the cakes are buy one get one free to which i originally declined so i was already saving them costs/ effort of making two.) At this point I really just wanted to leave because I'm confused, and very uncomfortable with the interaction. I pay, get my order and go. I want to clarify; I don't blame the servers or manager if this was direction from the owner. However, their inability to be able to explain why and their profuse apologies + mentions of agreeing and relating with my confusion told me ALOT. this request was not a crazy ask- especially given the fact that this area is surrounded by rural areas, farms, etc. and it takes people time to get home from town.
I never post reviews, but this was enough for me to tell others and not...
Read moreI grew up eating here because I lived in Church Hill. Dairy Cup was always a local favorite... a staple of the town. I hadn't been there in several years. My family stopped there tonight with some friends to grab some food and take elsewhere for dinner. We had bragged about how good the food was in years past so the expectation for quality was set.... and then dropped on its face. The burgers were extremely soggy and there was probably over an inch of excess bun around the burger patties because they were so small. The fries tasted like nothing but season salt. We asked for extra ketchup and were given a total of 4 packets for 5 meals. Needless to say, I'll never go back. Clearly the service and food isn't what it used to be. Also, I'm concerned about the health and safety of patrons. If you've been there, you'll know the waiting area (since the dining area is closed) is enough room for MAYBE 4 people to be 6ft apart. We were told our wait would be 15-20 minutes. The staff refused to notify us outside and I didn't want to stand inside because there was 8 people(I counted and some were unmasked) inside the waiting area. The staff wasn't doing anything to alleviate this issue so going inside to see if your food was ready posed a serious health risk if you're following community social distancing guidelines. It would not be possible to adhere to community guidelines AND patronize this store. I have to mention the overall appearance of the store as well. The outside of the building was very dirty. The letters on the front of the store are completely faded. The phone number on the side of the roof is so faded it isn't even legible. It's clear they've let this place go. If that's what the outside looks like, I'd hate to see the kitchen. Will...
Read moreThis place is getting worse by the year....I ordered 5cb combos....(2 of them with onion rings instead of fries) a very easy order... Nothing complicated.... Well...I get my order.... Everything is there except I'm missing one order of onion rings....I thought... Well, no big deal.... Everyone messes up something from time to time... So I tell them....I go back and sit at our table for about 5 min...(plenty of time to cook an order of onion rings when the grease is already piping hot) so I stand there another good 10 min.... Nothing.... And I remind u that there's orders going out while I'm still waiting for my one lil order of onion rings.... I Sit back down.... Start packing up my stuff at this point cause everyone else is done eating and my other food is already cold and nasty.... So on my way out the door they tell me my onion rings are ready.....I say a little too late now, my other food is cold... So I threw my bag in the trash and grabbed the onion rings.... It's a REALLY GOOD thing that I didn't look at them while I was there cause I was already fuming at this point! Would u believe... They were burnt???!?!!!?!?!?! As much time as they took to make them... They shld have been perfect! They never apologized or offered to make it up to me...So... They absolutely ruined my lunch with my family that day! And it cost a pretty penny... Very...
