Let's be fair and open, we came in on a Sunday at noon just as it opened for the day, and due to this, may not have received the best of the best when it comes to staff. We were the only diners in the restaurant for the entire duration of our visit and were greeted to a vacant hostess desk. The only sign of life was some rustling from the kitchen. Eventually, my wife met the hostess (who ended up being our waitress as well), when she decided to go to the bathroom while we waited (which is where the host was). Being the only diners, I was asked where I wanted to sit and had free range of the entire restaurant. After I pointed to a section of booths, I again was asked which booth in particular we wanted. Some may view this as a unique positive experience, however, this is a red flag in terms of management. A restaurant should have clear protocols in terms of seating, and be confident in it's approach, but as we'll come to find as my friend had already, this is just a pizza joint disguised as a restaurant. Off to a shaky start, we were asked the standard still or sparkling, of which we chose both still and sparkling. We were brought a 1L Pellegrino with a plate of lemon wedges and the water was poured for us along with some bread, which admittedly, was fresh, warm, and the accompanied pesto was tasty. After our order was taken, we were gifted an appetizer from the kitchen, which was a simple antipasto drizzled with aged balsamic. Things started looking up! Nevertheless, this ended up being the peak of our experience and quickly went downhill. I got a beet and goat cheese salad which is exactly what I received. A pile of spinach covering some unseasoned slices of beets and a few candied walnuts and the slightest drizzle of olive oil. There was minimal effort put into this, and it was evident. Please sprinkle some salt on your beets, it will make a night and day difference. My wife got the capellini with crab meat, which again, had little to no flavor. I got mussels in a white wine sauce. My mussels had obviously not been cleaned before they were steamed as I chewed through sand and grit in almost every bite. There was one dead mussel on the plate that had not opened that should have been removed. As well as the trend of under seasoning continued. The broth had little to no flavor, which for mussels, should be the star of the dish. I don't know what "cooking" wine you are cooking with back there, but please do yourself a favor and buy some boxed sauv blanc, it's really gonna make a difference. All in all our experience here fell was extremally flat and we will not be returning. If you are accustomed to the entree dishes at a pizzeria and enjoy them, Mia Nonna's MIGHT be passable. All others...
Read moreMy husband and I received an anniversary gift certificate to dine at this restaurant. We live over 1 hour away from this facility. On a nice Saturday night 2 weeks ago, we decided to make reservations and go! Upon arrival, we were seated immediately into the room on the left, across from the bar. There is about 6 tables in that location. One table was already being served and the other tables were empty. We were given menus and proceeded to eat the bread that was placed on our table. 10 minutes went by and no server for drinks or food! My husband got up and asked at the desk if someone could take our order. The girl looked puzzled but said ok. Just ,”okay”! Again we waited. The tables started to fill in with customers around us! Again, we are simply bypassed! After another 10 minutes, I flagged the waitress that was at the table directly behind us now! I asked if at least we could have some water while we waited! She said, “I’m sorry”! “I have something to do in the back and I’ll be right back”! Trying to keep our cool, we accepted that answer. She reappeared and took the tables order behind us! Then she casually walked away not even glancing in our direction. We got up, and walked to the desk and told them we were leaving. I asked why we we were overlooked and the receptionist shrug her shoulders. No apology extended. We have never ever had an experience like that in any establishment! And We traveled over 1 hour away for that experience? I wanted to reach out to the manager the day later but was still extremely irritated and afraid of what I might say! Thought putting this out here was probably a better idea!
Edit: Edit: After my review I received call from Melissa from Mia Nonna’s! She explained to me that what we experienced that evening was not typical of their establishment and was very apologetic! Melissa asked us to please reconsider returning! Melissa offered us some compensation and explained the reason for our experience which was due to a newer staff! Well, tonight we returned! From the staff to the food, everything was amazing. Now I know why people give this restaurant 5 stars. Also want to shout out to Tony our waiter for his excellent service! Melisa, thank you for reaching out to us. The food is definitely worth the trip and we will definitely be...
Read moreNew Review: Service was on point and busboy and waitress kept water and drinks filled perfectly. Soda is no longer 5$ per glass, $2.50 with free refills. Tables have been spaced out and much more room to eat comfortably. “Supplemental Fee” is gone off the bill. Food is AMAZING They literally fixed everything I stated in my last review and then some Great place to eat will definitely be coming back often .
OLD REVIEW: I came in with high hopes and excitement of a new restaurant for my wife and I to go to. We where sat a very small table very close to other diners. The server was nice but rushed. We would get water in 15-20 min intervals. The soda is fountain soda from the bar and they charge $5 per glass of which is small and they fill 75% with a lot of ice, and each refill is $5 really? For fountain soda? The plate are huge but the portions are small. The food was good but not wowing good basic fair.
There from Cape May and moved/expanded there restaurant here.
Pros: Food is good Pasta is al dente and sauce is pretty good. Some of the desserts are fantastic. Staff are friendly and patient.
Cons: The seating arrangements are way too cramped just to get up on brushing up against another person. The tables are way too small for the size of the plates that they’re dishing out. Basic drinks like soda that are coming from tap fountain from the bar are severely over priced. Some thing that I hope they change which I seen a lot of restaurants is having a dedicated busboy or waitress that runs around looking for water glasses that are empty because your server will be with you every 20 or so minutes and you won’t have no water to drink, which is extremely disconcerting and slightly unsafe . At checkout, they have something called a “supplemental fee” with no explanation of what that is so on top of a tip and the price of dinner they add on another fee.
Staff is friendly, food is decent for they nickel and dime you and ...
