Uniquely Yours Tea Room — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant Township

I don't really leave reviews but my husband and I were so upset about the manager we thought we should. She criticized her workers and said "they needed a good work out" when customers use the upstairs. She was also nasty to one lady who was having a get-together and changed her mind about having the party upstairs for older relatives. It was like an inconvenience to her! If you aren't very busy you should try to accommodate large groups. After hearing all that I wouldn't have a party here. Truthfully I don't know how this place stays in business. Owner needs to wake up and smell the tea because your goal is to take care of your customers not turn them away. I know because I own a business and worked at a coffee house for 7 years. I looked at the menu she also doesn't offer items for people with allergies. I guess in her mind it's my tea house and they don't need to come which is a poor way to look at it! Several weeks later I returned hoping things would be better . The service was again subpar. Some of the ladies at my table were served right away while others waited excessively. I noticed that the workers were having problems carrying plates to and from the tables. If you are willing to overlook these shortcomings the food is very good. My daughter, her two girls and I visited the tea room on Mother’s Day, and it was such a special day! The food is wonderful and very different, such as scones with lavender icing and a pastry filled with some kind of cheese. There is a tea cabinet that’s filled with about 20 different teas to choose from. The service was very prompt and everyone was very friendly. And the atmosphere — well, it’s like being inside a Hollywood movie! Such attention to detail, like a gold hand dryer in the bathroom and chandeliers dripping with crystals everywhere! I was visiting from Texas and came here to experience Afternoon Tea with a long time friend who had visited several times prior at Uniquely Yours. It has been the highlight of my vacation. The beautiful decor and Victorian styling took me away to a different time period of elegance and charm. The amazing array of sweet/savory desserts and sandwiches were absolutely delicious. A wide variety of high end teas were available for selection to enjoy with the treats.
