This place was the epitome of a classy pizza and barbecue dive. Overall, my wife and I liked this restaurant, but there were a few aspects that we weren't pleased with that lowered our rating.
Here's some pros and cons:
-Food-
Pros: The food was good. We had a delicious cinnamon apple cheesecake that was definitely worth buying. They had a lot of really good pizza and barbecue options and the price was okay, pretty typical for wood fire pizza and barbecue. We loved how cheesy the pizza was and the quantity of food was great for the price. Unfortunately we didn't try the barbecue, but it looked and smelled delicious.
Cons: Though the pizza was good, we did think it was a tad salty and garlicky, especially for a margherita pizza. We were also a little confused on why the margherita pizza was an off menu option. If the cashier hadn't of mentioned it to the people in front of us, we wouldn't have known it was an option.
-Service-
Pros: The only staff member we really encountered was the cashier who was very friendly and hospitable. All the other staff members seemed to be very professional and presentable. The service was timely and the staff seemed efficient.
Cons: I have no complaints regarding the service here.
-Restaurant-
Pros: This place was the perfect small town dive and had a great trendy vibe. It was spacious and had plenty of seating.
Cons: It was hotter than the face of the sun! When we visited it was warmer out and there was little airflow in the restaurant and hot. But my main issue was the flies. There were a lot of flies because the doors were open to try to allow airflow due to the heat and stuffiness inside the building. I was also concerned it may not be the cleanest place because of the amount of flies.
Conclusion: Overall this place was a nice spot and I can see why the rating was high. And I'm sure if we come around this area again, we will give this place...
Read moreGreat little place that I driven by lots of times and was excited to finally eat there. There's a decent selection of pizza. Anything that you would want would be covered there. We got the Hawaiian just because I was with some picky eaters and that's what they like. And it was good. A little greasy, but nothing that a simple napkin wouldn't fix. The crust was slightly burnt, but in a good way, and was amazing.
The best part of the meal was actually the breadsticks. We just got the basic ones and it came a decent portion size, and they were incredible. The garlic butter that it came with was good, but you almost didn't need it. If you go there definitely get the breadsticks.
Nice inside dining room, and great outside dining room as well. Weed outside and it was pretty nice. Parking in the main area is a bit tricky. There is an overflow lot across the intersection, but I didn't see that till after I sat down. I had a circle the block a couple times to try and get a good place.
The main room that you walk in has great Ambiance. You see the wood fire oven, everybody was very friendly. The menu was nice and transparent. I have no complaints about the location.
The iced tea was terrible. I took a sip of it just to try it, and I had to spit it out. That's how bad it was. I don't know what was going on with it, maybe it was old, or the sweetener was just something I'm not used to, maybe it was something else. But that was horrible and my only overall complaint about the restaurant was...
Read moreFun, vintage/retro atmosphere with great pizza but not aan accessible building. My pal and I tried their Detroir style pizza, which wasn't nearly as good as Bad Dad Brewing's in Fairmount, but was still a delicious experience (don't get it with the canned tomates, tho, they're very chunky and too watery). We didn't try the traditional pizza but plan to come back some time, mayber after a day at Summit Lake, to try it. The vibe is fun, and the variety of indoor and outdoor seating options are great. The music got really loud inside at one point, and we were able to switch tables to a quieter area on the patio. There's also ample parking across the street.
However: This building is not accessible if you have mobility issues, particularly if you use a wheelchair. There's a shallow step leading up to the building, and once inside there's another step down to get into the dining areas. There didn't appear to be any ramps or alternative ways to get inside. Some of the walkways between tables were also a bit narrow (particularly during a busy night), which could cause navigation issues for some people.
So this is a fun place with delicious food, tho only if you have a...
