Los Cazadores — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

I grew up in the southwest eating Mexican food. I know good Mexican food when I taste it.

I was greatly surprised to find this family owned Mexican restaurant with such good food here in Mt. Vernon. I have since recommended it to people visiting the area and they loved it.

I think this is the best Mexican food restaurant I have found in KY. I have eaten in a lot of them in the 21 years I have been in KY and many were excellent but this stands out as the best.

One quick suggestion. Don’t pass on desert and order the banana burrito. When you do you will know why I recommend it.

Also tamale lovers. If you ask they will sell you a dozen tamales like homemade for less then anywhere else. They are great tamales and we take them home and freeze them. You have to ask. There are no signs that say they sell tamales to take home...

TERRIBLE. There were 5 of us it took forever to get our food and it was wrong. However that was the least of the complaints there was a HAIR in our food and a BONE. The lady was rude and rolled her eyes at my mom because my brother wouldn’t eat the wrong food. (if you have picky kids you understand) My mom said something about the BONE and she literally brushed it off like it was nothing and said it must be from the chicken. Well obviously chickens have bones but how is that a reason there were bones in the shredded chicken chimichanga. Then she had the audacity to apologize for the wrong food in the rudest way possible not the literal bone in the food or the hair. Safe to say we did not leave a tip and will not be returning. Americanized waste of money but the waitress was pleasant enough. Did not take directions well. Steaks were over done. Potato wedges were frozen crinkle fries. Tossed salad was just chopped iceberg lettuce with sliced tomatoes and raw onion. Zero dressing. Absolutely nothing about this experience was Mexican food aside from the rice and even that was very plain and bland. No limes served with anything. No hot sauce variety. No grilled hot peppers. No tostadas at all. Just Absolutely white washed shenanigans. The diversity here in Kentucky does not exist as far as I can see.
