Mary Sue's Cafe — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

Dude.. I was out of town chilling wanted something more not fast food type ish. . drove by after looking it up,, was a shack . That's all good but I did not even know till I called.. dude said yup that's them.. no sign little ol school building next to some train industrial site.. still cool reviews that they are the bomb.. so talked to dude . Said he had the best cat fish nugs around.. right on... so I ordered them. Some wings.. and a Philly cheese steak sandwich and some supposed crack fries. I can say this the fries were a little soggy.. tasted good as hell but maybe the wrong day ??? The freaking wings were completely bad as hell.. man so good I can't even explain. Lemon pepper but dry.. I like the ones with like sauce on them.. moist.. but these were dry and lemon pepper on them... wow still unbelievable .. are they smoked? are they BBQ' d? I don't know but awesome.. the cat fish nuggets I can't even explain either.. super tasty and noy dry at all . I ordered all of this and I did not get any tartar sauce.. ya I could eat them with out it and were more than amazing but I like tartar sauce.. ya I ate them anywayz..lol.. I mean they were totally killer.. anyways.. no sign.. people parked all weird.. I broke down and went to the window and man.. absolutely worth the sketchy atmosphere and the weird spot.. great people dude was great and more than what I expected seeing the spot even after the reviews.. hay kick some tartar sauce for us white dumb asses.. js.....

The fries are addictive Edit: It has been 6 months. The fries are now called crack fries. We think of how sadly every other fries pales in comparison to the crack fries. We are now in Colorado but we miss Illinois. Purely for the crack fries.

Edit: it's now been a year. Still thinking about those French fries.

Edit: it's now 3/7/2024 and I still think about the crack fries. I long for them like a lover gone to war.

Edit: 6/2 has fries today. It's not the same. Get the crack fries. Try them.

Edit: 8/29/2024 We're now in Vegas. We ordered food and the fries looked reminiscent of the crack fries. Unfortunately, the taste pales in comparison. They are just regular fries in the city of sin. I long for the taste of the crack fries still.

Edit: 11/19/2024 My phone showed me a memory of the crack fries. They'd almost slipped my mind for a moment. Now I remember. I remember the delicious fries. Try the fries.

Edit: 2/3/2025 I was watching Archer and "Cherlene" asked for Carolina fries and made me think of crack fries. I still want them.

Edit: 7/31/2025 We were trying to find some food in Las Vegas and thought of the crack fries again. Damn...

If you don't eat here you are absolutely missing out! I cannot handle how good this food was. We were on a road trip and saw the photos/reviews (not one bad review!) and had to drive out of our way to go. The Chicago style (dipped in aus jus with cheese) Italian beef sandwich was loaded with flavor but I couldn't stop going back to the catfish nuggets!!! Omg so juicy and crispy. Fries were fried perfectly with just the right amount of salt and pepper. I'm gutted we don't live closer!! It is the tiniest little shack but don't be fooled - the food is insane. And the prices were unbeatable. Highly...
