McDonald's — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

I really don't like to post negative comments about someone's means of survival. In this case? I will warn the public to NOT use McDonald's new auto designed screens.

I used the one at a newly updated location in Mt.Vernon, IN where I placed a simple salad for a all salad and paid at a self-serve screen. I know McDonald's restaurants keep salads in a cold case. My friend had to order at the counter after her screen failed. An attentive guy immediately took her money. She had her order in seconds. Thirty minutes later. I finally asked about the salad that I kept and needed to prove I not only did order, but more importantly paid for. After an employee told me no such order showed on their screen, I realized just how faulty this new computer operated business model is and will continue to be in he future. Thankfully, with my receipt I got my salad. Not a single of 3 employees standing behind the counter uttered a slight, sorry, or thank you.

I really don't think I'll ever make that mistake again. If you do use their new "self order screend", I advise people to keep an eye on your receipt. Do not wait like the idiot I evidently am. There are no longer proper manners, or any values left since my childhood. Sadly, McDonald's has changed much more than the fast food model that taught generations that it's not about good food and service, but that McDonald's is a fun place to eat growing up. I am now dinosaur who has outlived the power of advertising. I can't imagine anyone paying for food that never showed-up on the main ordering screen leaving...

The last time I was in McDonald's it was just a simple carry out on a combo meal and whoever the boy was I'm not mad but this is his job to hand a customer's a cup to get their drink I was never even given a drink until I went in and complained about it when I realized that I had not been given a drink and the other cashier was going to make me pay for another one when I had a receipt in my hand that kind of burns customer service when they are so busy and so understaffed that a person can't pay attention and do his job or her job correctly.. the food was good the fries are over-salted you should actually stop salting them because it seems like everybody in the restaurant put salt on them I used to work at McDonald's years ago and I used to watch this be done and I was the Frye person I would throw them away and make a new batch and I would not salt the fries whatsoever that's how it should be you can get packets of salt and their salt shakers on the tables...Reason for three stars... careless customer service not...

We were rushed through our orders. Then we were missing parts of our orders. My wife is pregnant and got given an undercooked burger, my burger was also undercooked. Every single item we ordered was follow by “Is that all?” By the woman taking our order. We felt like our order was unimportant by comparison to the amount of her time we were taking up placing our order. This was a terrible experience and the next time I want McDonald’s I’ll drive to Evansville to get it.

Update: 6/4/23 We can now add failure to take an entire chunk of an order to this place. Tried to get my wife and I breakfast as a treat. She got hers. They failed to even take my part down. So here I am contemplating how they expect 15 dollars an hour when they can’t even listen to...
