Bookworms Cafe — Restaurant in Mountain Home

Love this little cafe! For those that don't know this is a small cafe located inside of our local library. The owner serves a variety of coffee/cappuccinos/caffeinated beverages. They have one called the milkyway "I do believe" and it's definitely worth a try. ☺️ If you are hungry they serve grilled gourmet sandwiches, wraps and salads. They also have a yummy tomato bisque 😋 That's coming from someone who never liked any kind of tomato soup (or bisque) before I tried this one! It came with something I ordered one day so I ended up giving it a try. So glad I did! In fact when I make a trip here these days, it's for the bisque!!! She also makes a few little goodies for anyone who has a sweet tooth. I usually keep it simple with a brownie but she has some more original creations as well. Went in at 2:30 PM on a Friday and was all but told to leave. I asked for two (2) coffees and was promptly told "no". They didn't have any coffee since they were closing soon at 3 PM. Huh? I was offered two Americanos instead which were served scolding hot to the brim. I had to dump out extra liquid in the trashcan as the "barista" completely disappeared leaving me with no half and half and no sugar. When she finally returned, she had an attitude and when I asked for missing items she basically barked at me, "How many? How many?" Overall a very disappointing experience on our cross-country drive where we just needed some caffeine. Also, the Americanos she charged for plus two waters were almost $12. What a joke! I went to the cafe while I was at the library. My purpose was mainly to check out their menu, as it was close to closing. There were a couple other patrons there as well who were waiting for the food they ordered. While I was looking at the menu and observing reactions to the food, multiple employees started loudly complaining about patrons coming in right before closing. Fair enough, but making it a public display of displeasure was enough for me to decide to never return. Hopefully the employees are either replaced with employees who are happy to have customers, or the cafe goes out of business and is replaced. Once that happens I will happily give...
