This is the kind of place you wish you'd find in every small town that you pass through on your way to your major destination. Mountainaire is on the way to higher elevation towns and is only an hour from Albuquerque. Alpine Alley is a local gathering place with a comfy couch and tables, a fully-equipped coffee house, a breakfast and lunch restaurant, and a take out cafe with homemade bakery items that will satisfy your innermost cravings. They sell out quickly though - when I arrived around 10am, there was only one blueberry muffin left. I had it heated with butter and it was heavenly. The espresso was perfect as well. The owner is friendly and funny and seemed to know every patron that came through the door. Of course. I was driving a back route to Las Vegas, New Mexico, that took me through this mountain town and several others. My journey was saved by my 20 minute stop here. I hope yours is, too.

Decided to take a road trip and stopped here to eat. It was a cute little roadside cafe. I have very mixed reviews on this. I know this is a small business and definitely not fast food. We appreciated that going in. We looked forward to the small town homemade experience. However, it really took a long time. The onion rings we ordered as an appetizer were overcooked, very crusty and greasy. Not good at all. But the fried pickles we ordered were absolutely AMAZING! And they gave you so many! They were the best part of the meal. I ordered the small smothered burrito, which was also great and a very generous size. Now the burgers on the other hand, while tasty, were on the small side. I love the way they serve red their ice tea. It was really cute. I would probably go back again, but I wouldn’t go if I was super hungry. I think we waited a good 45 minutes after we ordered for our food to arrive.

The owner Fae took care of me herself , and I can’t thank her enough . The food (I got the Alpine Philly ) was the best I have ever had . I complimented that with fries and fresh blueberry pie . Wow , all staff greeted me , the food was smackin , and the dessert , outta this world delightful. They use all fresh cut meat , fresh everything : and you can taste it . Everybody go here , this place is so cool inside , it should be on a food show .

I like to support this spot because they are a local spot, in fact the only spot in town at this point and it's a great place to stop while I'm on my motorcycle.

I was super stoked to see they are going to be open 7 days a week. Visited on a Sunday with a buddy and wow, what a let down (sadly).

Ordered half huevas rancheros (add chorizo) and a black coffee. My buddy ordered the same, (minus chorizo) with a added orange juice.

My friend didn't get his coffee until after the food arrived, we had to ask three separate times for it. My plate didn't have the chorizo I asked for. We had to ask for our toast twice which we got at the end of the breakfast. We didn't get silverware (I had to reach over the counter and grab this). I paid with cash and got charged a "credit card fee" on the receipt.

There was a very young girl behind the register. She seemed to have it together more than the 2 young adults that were helping us. This actually humored me a bit. She got the toast order rectified.

Look, I'm not trying to crap all over this business. I really like this place, my wife likes this place. They are literally the only restaurant in town at this point (I don't count the hotel). I want to see this place thrive and shine, I really do...... But the last experience was just so erroneous it's hard to turn a blind eye to it.

I hope the owner(s) see this as the constructive criticism it is meant to be, not an insult and work to make the corrections to make the front of house run a bit smoother and streamlined.

Promote the little girl, she seemed to be the most attentive and coordinated one we dealt with.

Ps: I loved the cat... I know that one's not your fault but I still really...
