I happen to be heading in the direction of this place. I seen this for a rest stop. I then decided to check out the reviews to get an idea of the atmosphere. I seen it was highly rated so I hit my GPS for a night stay. This place is an old set back AWESOME truck stop. The people who help keep it up with my experience where fantastic. I got a shower there and was skeptical because of the history of use it has,but it was very clean. I paid only $5 because I didnt get fuel. That's the cheapest I found for a large clean shower. The convenient store/ fuel desk prices for their products made me feel it was 1990 when u spend $5 and walk out with a bag of enjoyment. MIND BLOWING! I then went over to the resturant that everyone on here in reviews said was excellent. I ordered a T-bone steak with mash and onion rings. The waitress was very friendly and during my entire meal she refilled my drink without even asking. She gave personal attention without u even knowing. Did the same with the others also. Let me tell you, the food was EXCELLENT. I PIGGED OUT! LOL! Mash potatoes where scrumptious and the T-bone was made to my exact liking. I truly recommend anybody who passing by to stop and check it out. You will be very happy u did. Plenty of seating and well upkeep. While I stayed in my truck no one bothered me. Very quite and very enjoyable. Slept like a lamb. I personally will be by here again. Clearly this place has so much history they understand how to make u feel like ur home when ur away from home. This is by far a 5 star truck...
Read moreTRUCKERS. STOP HERE. More details seen below Try their Reuben sandwich. Just do it. Best Reuben I have ever had to date. I rate everyone on that sandwich. First place I've ever decided to give full marks. Corned beef 10/10 saurkraut 10/10 melty Swiss cheese 10/10 red/white rye swirl bread is peak reuben, 10/10 thousand island dressing was perfect, even as a prepackaged brand that is applied by the customer. 10/10. Served hot and with great homestyle fries (bottomless ones no less) the whole meal is great. At a price of about 15 dollars for the platter, i don't think it can be beaten. I'd have willingly paid 25 for this meal. They could charge prime steak prices for this meal and it would be well within reason. But they don't. It's cheaper than a big Mac meal in some places. The truck parking is great, the area quiet, plenty of light and room. Not far off the beaten path and not hard to get into. As a Trucker, this place couldn't be better. Clean restrooms great food great prices and a wonderful mountain view sunset. I'll be stopping here every time I come through these mountains...
Read moreWhen you think truck stop what comes to mind? For me, it's usually decent food at a good price.
Well this place has neither! First off, for where this place is located the prices are insanely high. I mean, ridiculously high. I seriously don't know why anyone would be a regular there. As for the location, I mean if you like gravel and broken pavement parking lots and a run down building that looks like entering would be a bad choice in a horror film, then this is that.
For the prices and for calling itself a truck stop, the grounds were horrible. And as I said, the building outside looks closed, and inside looked just sad.
The food was one step above a bad hospital cafeteria. Cheap products and high prices are the combination here. But I really the only good thing we had was some french fries, they were tasty and the cheapest thing. But the salads and breakfasts were subpar.
Again, the prices are insanely high here. Drive 5 more minutes to Ebensburg and a get a whole lot better of a meal for at or below what you pay for this terrible food and this grungy...
