My mother wanted to go here for her Birthday dinner. We were a family of 5 adults. We dined on a Sunday when they serve family-style. While the food was brought out quickly, the chicken and mashed potatoes were hot but everything else was room temp. The entire place was cold, we had to keep our coats on and my 20 something year old daughter even went back to the car to get her jacket. It was 62° outside on a Sunday at 12:30p. The bowls of sides were just cereal/soup bowl sized and the first platter of chicken only had 7 pieces of chicken so we asked for more and were told they were cooking more but 2 tables arrived after us and got platters of food (including chicken) and finished eating before we got more chicken. While they offered to bring more of the sides, it felt like they weren't expecting you to ask for more. They did bring more mashed potatoes & green beans that were hot this time. They ran out of squash casserole so we didn't get to find out if it would have been hot or not. We got water and drinks quickly with a water pitcher placed at the table. But it took a while to get a tea refill. It was good fried chicken and meatballs were tasty if they had only been hot. The second helping of meatballs also came cold and not with a thick gravy like first ones, they seemed to be sitting in broth. So some consistency issues for sure. Given the serving style and that the room was 1/2 empty when we arrived. The service just was not as expected almost as if Tina the manager, is the only one with food service experience. For your money you won't leave hungry but maybe still not satisfied. The place was converted to be a restaurant and obviously the venting system doesn't work or needs repairs because the first impression is the smell of frying grease when you first walk in the door. That first impression is hard...
Read moreWell on a whim after paddleboarding we went to this place to eat. Didn’t realize it was family style and all you can eat on Sunday. There was 4 of us and we got fried chicken, ham , mashed potatoes, green beans, yellow squash, coke slaw, cream corn, okra and banana pudding and tea.. food was great and the manager tina is a gem… she took care of us since our waitress was rude and not very nice had the nerve to tell our neighbors thanks for being good customer while she ignored us several times and was downright rude to all of us… but thanks to Tina she turned our frowns upside down… thanks Tina . If we are ever in the area we will be back because of you and if anyone else gets the wicked witch of the west...
Read moreI tried this place for the first time today after seeing the good reviews. It was very nice. My waitress, Miranda, was really sweet and attentive. As a single woman I don’t always get good service when I eat alone. But today I was treated like a special person. My food was good and there was a lot of it. I was going to get a takeout order for supper. But I had so much left overs I made a second meal from that. I did get a veggie plate for my sister. So much food and the cost was very reasonable for this area. I’ve eaten crappy fast food that cost more. I definitely recommend this place for a casual high quality meal. Only downside is they don’t take cards. Cash...
