First time there, everything was very good. We loved the atmosphere and the service was excellent. I didn't care for my Pasta Carbonara, but that was a matter of personal taste. We all loved the appetizers and everyone else enjoyed their entrees.
Second time there, last night, was a different story. The food was still very good but the server dropped the ball. I took my son, DIL and little grandson for dinner. We got an appetizer, 3 adult entrees and chicken fingers and fries for the little guy. Another server brought out the 3 adult entrees, but not the chicken fingers. We figured they might be coming although they were the quickest thing to make. After about 10 minutes, we realized it wasn't coming. It was hard to find our server bc they seem to all like to hang out in the kitchen. When I caught a glimpse of her in the kitchen, I asked her about the chicken fingers. She said she would check and came and told us that she had failed to put the order in but it would only take 4 minutes. It took over 15 minutes to get them. When they came, the rest of us were finished eating and had given the little guy some of our meals. We should have just told the server to take it back and take it off the check. Instead, we just boxed it up and took it home. The fries were coated with way too much salt. When the bill came, no apology for screwing up one of the meals and no offer to take it off the bill since we didn't get the simplest meal until the rest of our party was finished eating. Disappointing, but we will go back based upon our prior experience. Hopefully we will get a different...
Read moreWhat a pleasant little surprise. My wife and I were going back home from a college football game and felt like some pizza, but something different. We get to Ginny’s in the middle of the afternoon and the place was surprisingly busy. The place is situated off a trail and had a nice big balcony. We approached the host stand and heard there was a three hour wait…booked til seven 😳. We tried the bar and got lucky, there were a few seats open. Service was a bit slow, but considering there was clearly something going on, that was understandable. I love soups and this place did not disappoint! Home made wedding soup that was not overly salty (pet peeve of mine). Highly recommend the wedding soup! We split a chicken parm sandwich and a six cut arugula pizza. The couple next to us had ordered the same pizza and when it came out, I knew we were not gonna to be disappointed. The chef brought out our food. The chicken parm sandwich was served on rosemary infused focaccia bread. It was good but a little dry. So I asked for a side of marinara. The sauce is fantastic, chunks of tomato’s and garlic (also used it to dip my pizza crust). Arugula pizza was absolutely fantastic. Something different and delicious. Pizza was topped with a blend of cheeses and arugula and drizzled with balsamic vinegar and topped with shaved Parmesan. The chef came back out and asked us how we enjoyed everything. Considering how busy the place was, that was a nice touch. Looking forward to coming back and getting more soup, a pasta dish with that yummy marinara and an another pizza. And I just found out they have a...
Read moreWe went on a Friday at 6pm and it was very crowded. We didn't make a reservation and although every table was taken we only waited about 20 minutes. While waiting I had the chance to look around; the style is a bit confusing: it's an unusual mix of industrial and rural but it kind of work. There is a dining area with and indoor area, a patio (enclosed in winter with heaters, and picnic tables closer to the Westmoreland trail. On the other side of the dining area there is a lounge area with a small patio in the front of the building; I didn't go there but it looked very cozy and welcoming, although it seemed packed as well. We were sat in the indoor dining area and it was pretty loud. Our server was very nice but the service was slow; we got there at 6 and left at 8 but it wasn't an issue for us. I was pleased with the kitchen staff: I made a change to my pizza and a pizzaiolo came out to ask clarifications in person. I don't think it ever happened to me. The cauliflower pizza is very good and so is the regular dough. They have an extensive beer selection and cocktails, ice cream, and 5 to 7 different desserts. Other downside is that we went back home with our clothes impregnated in oil smell but it happens. Overall the experience was good and we'll definitely go back.
UPDATE: take out isn't as good as dine in. They skim on the toppings. My husband paid 3$ for prosciutto and they put a quarter of a slice of prosciutto. Apparently the girl at the check out even checked the pizza. They didn't give parmigiano either. Disappointing. So check the orders...
