The Chanticleer is set in the charming village, Sconset, on Nantucket. If you’re looking for a stellar fine dining experience, in a picturesque setting, book a reservation. Neither the food, nor the service will let you down.
My party ate in the Rose Garden. The pictures I’ve attached don’t do the setting it’s proper justice. Let’s just say you’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful seaside garden.
The dining is what solidified my 5 star review. Our waiter, Michael, was excellent. So many waiters either interfere too much or you can never find them for a simple request. This was the antithesis. The service was invisible when it was meant to be, then magically there almost in anticipation of a need. Flawless.
Two drinks, two appetizers, two entrees and a shared dessert and everything that hit our table was fresh, flavorful and perfectly executed. This is one of those places where the food actually outperforms the written menu or your expectations thereof.
Our evening ended with a fantastic shared dessert, a lemon tart accented with fresh raspberries and whipped cream. It was a perfect ending to a perfect dining experience.
As a footnote, I’ve been to the island many times and have always had a great experience at The Chanticleer. So, I booked our reservation three weeks in advance just to be sure we had a chance to dine there during our...

Read moreWonderful service in a nice setting. The crowd trends towards the older, country club type of guest. The menu looks so interested but the execution is not what it should be. You know the quote about before leaving the house, a lady should look in the mirror and remove one accessory? The chef should take the same advice and remove one ingredient. Many of the dishes seemed over the top but not in a good way.
Not sure how to respond to question from the chef: we had a party of 9 and the three entrees that I tried were:
Poulet A ‘Estragon - Naturally Raised Vermont Chicken - On a Ragout of Organic Wild Mushrooms, Fig and Smoked Bacon. Paired with Whole Grain ‘Stuffing’ Flavored Waffles with Beet Syrup and Maple Butter.
Patty Melt Delux with Hand Pressed Beef Patty of Sirloin, Brisket & Short Rib, Served on Marbled Rye with Aged Swiss Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Thousand Island Aioli, Pommes Frites and Half-Sour Pickle.
Bolognese of New Zealand Lamb & Lamb Sausage - Slowly Simmered with San Morzano Tomatoes and Fines Herbs. Tossed with Today’s Fresh Pasta, Asiago Cheese
It's not to say that weren't delicious but they were so rich that eating half...
