Smokin Rick's Hickory House — Restaurant in Nashville

Because I can't give a half star. Arrived prior to end of stated breakfast hours, waited at door 5 minutes to be seated. Upon being seated, was told they are no longer serving breakfast, which was the entire reason for this choice. Took lunch order. Mostly ignored by staff for the greater than 45 minutes it took to deliver our food. I am not at all impressed with the customer service at this place. I, however am impressed they are still in business. Now about the food. My wife ordered chicken fried steak, took 3 bites and said it's not worth the carb intake. "This is the worst I've ever tasted.". I ordered the fish and shrimp. Fish was muddy and overcooked, the shrimp we're very small. The cocktail sauce was served in straight from Cisco single serving plastic tubs like you would get at Long John Silvers. So was the tartar sauce. I had to get up and get my own Louisiana hot sauce. I am new to Nashville, so I had never heard of this place before this week. When my partner at work took me here, I initially had doubts that the food could be as good as it was. Holy smokes, was I wrong. Best meatloaf I've had since Mama made it. Best hamburger steak since... EVER. Service was prompt and SO friendly. I love that Nashville seems to be the kind of town where everyone knows everyone, and that is certainly reflected in the service at Smokin Rick's. I'd imagine this is the kind of place that ends up on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives", with glowing reviews. Can't wait to go back and get some BBQ,...

Excellent food and great service. We had the daily special which was roast beef, green beans, potatos, roll and fresh peach cobbler or pecan cobbler ( my husband had both). We also sampled each of the BBQs, chicken, brisket, rib, and pork.

We didn't need a fork for anything as the food was all so very tender. Rick was first know for his BBQ, we heard, and it was certainly delicious. Everyone there seemed to be regulars which is always a good sign.
