We stay in the Monmouth and really looked forward to our dinner here. When we came in at the reserved time we were kind of left in limbo in the arrival area, nobody there to show us to our table or even welcome us. That was solved after a couple of minutes and we were seated by our very nice waiter (Daj ????) I heard him telling his name to another table but he did not tell us. Starters were really very good. While we were still chewing on the last bits our plates were taken away and literally 10 seconds after that our main course were presented. I did travel a lot in the US and I know Americans like fast service but this was faster than even an American would like it. When we said something about it there was surprisingly little understanding or even response. Unfortunately one of our main courses (the USD42 Angus steak) was well done instead of the requested medium and the sides were cold. When we complained communication became fuzzy and maybe we did not understand everything completely as meant by both the manager and the servant but in our view they said they would solve things and nothing happened for about 15 minutes. (In the meantime my partner ate her very well prepared pork chops). When reclaiming the manager and the servant were blaming each other and the kitchen for the yes or no timely delivery and of the quality of the delivered. But more worrying, they started blaming me for having accepted the overcooked steak and the newly delivered hot mash (while the cold one was still at my plate so apparently I needed to swap that myself). We honestly never accepted the plate, but maybe we misunderstood the offering because we are not native english speakers, although we can manage pretty well). After all this we got a very, very generous discount on our bill but my point is that this was not about money but about service and hospitality. Our dinner was spoiled and we were kind of blamed for it ourselves. This is something I would not expect from a restaurant as prestigious as this one would like to present itself.

So, my suggestions and tips: do not blame each other for mistakes in front of guests, we really are not interested in your communication issues; do not blame guests for not understanding you, the lesson always should be that you were not clear enough; do not lie to customers: if food was under a heat lamp for some time do not deny that, we're not stupid! don't involve a manager if there is nothing (s)he can or wants to solve; don't think this can be solved by just discounting, your job is about more than that: about giving people a nice experience.

Although we will be in the inn one more night we obviously won't be...

My husband took me here for my birthday. It was our first time visiting, and for a place that's reservations only, I was expecting great food, great ambiance, and excellent service. My husband and I both had the baby greens salad. I added shrimp, my husband added chicken. That was $22 and $21 respectively. We then both had the redfish special with mashed potatoes and green beans. That dish was $42 for each one. I got the pecan pie with a scoop of ice cream which was $18. We both had water to drink, but my husband added a Coca Cola which was $3. Our bill totaled $161. My husband looked at me and reminded me that this was an "experience" that we were paying for. For this price, it would have been lovely to enjoy that expensive meal in a quiet environment. When we walked in the dining room, there were two other couples sitting in opposite corners of the restaurant, but carrying in a conversation across the restaurant. This resulted in us having to wait approximately 30 minutes for them to complete their meal before we could have and hold our own private conversation at our table. This "experience" was a NO for me. I won't be returning. Oh yeah, I've had much better tasting redfish, green beans, mashed potatoes, and pecan pie at a bar and grill. The salad was really delicious, but not...

My husband and I visited this restaurant tonight.. they were pretty slow to get to us, even with a reservation, which was pretty disappointing and we were considering just leaving until we looked around and realized how horribly understaffed they were. Idk if its bc of covid or what, but we only saw two ppl working. Thankfully, our reservation was a little later than normal and the tables around us started leaving, giving the 2 ppl that were working time to get to us. The food we had was INCREDIBLE. We are from Louisiana and kind of selective when it comes to fine dining and seasoning and this food was outdtanding. The flavor was fan-freaking-tastic. Nothing needed salt 🙌 and I find that to be rare in a restaurant. The flavor was perfect and thw sides were incredible. There was nothing to change. Our server was Chandra and she was wonderful and personable server and just so great! This was by far the best food we've had in Natchez! 👏👏👏👏 The only reason it got 5 stars was bc they were obviously...

Absolutely phenomenal! Every plate was a crescendo of flavors, each surpassing the last, leaving us in awe. It was so extraordinary that we had to meet the mastermind behind it all—Chef Mike, whose talent is nothing short of genius. Our evening was elevated even further by George, our charming and attentive waiter, and Israel, the true artist behind the stunning food presentation. And let’s not forget Dai, the maitre’d, whose warmth and hospitality made us feel instantly at home. This wasn’t just a meal; it was an unforgettable culinary journey. The food, worthy of a Michelin star, was only rivaled by the incredible team that made the experience so special. Thank you for an unforgettable night!

I really enjoy the food here. Yesterday, I enjoyed a mint julep, cream of mushroom soup, baby greens salad with cooked and seasoned shrimp, and the Angus Filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was not disappointed. Dinner exceeded expectations. The atmosphere was that of splendor. The service was outstanding. A dinner like this on the West Coast would be 150% more. I have eaten at 1818 multiple times, and I always look forward to my next visit.
