You know that kind of place that's a significant part of a community? The kind of place that the locals go to as often as they can? This is that place! It's been there for over 80 years and will be there for at least another 80! The staff are second to none. They treat you like you are their family!!!!

The 1st time that I went here, I simply asked the server what she liked. She was nice enough to answer and thus helped me decide based on what she'd said.

Apparently, they are famous for their suzy'q's, that's a really curly French fry for those that are wondering. And they are made fresh, just as one of the two onion ring options are! You can either have their handcut and battered onion rings or the frozen ones. It's an option that most places don't have.

I have a personal favorite. It's the bacon cheeseburger with a tomatoe on it and regular fries. Sometimes, I get their double bacon cheeseburger instead of the regular one and am pleased with either option.

The burgers are fried on a flat grill, not a broiler, so you get what you'd expect in a fried burger. It's not a fancy place, but it's a great local place with amazing prices!

If you are there for any length of time, (which they are super fast and even do a drive up order option), you'll notice how do many of the customers and staff know each other! That's the best part of it all...

And even if they're super busy, no worries, your wait won't be very long!

I have had a breakfast option here as well, and it wasn't disappointing either. It actually made my day having ham and eggs with hashbrowns and toast. Pretty basic, I'm certain, but a lot of places don't get that much right. This place does!!!

I've become a regular here and am always pleased with the staff, the food and...

Super good food..large portions, inexpensive..great homestyle burgers and fries and onion rings..such a nice old fashioned diner style place...drove for several hours to meet family to have dinner..Now for the bad part our server was not nice..forgot everything and we had to continue to call her from around the store to get refills..mayo ..ECT..we did have family ordering meals ..and more food ..she would avoid us.. It was painfully obvious she was angry with us and made it well known ..I would have to call her for the refill..get it and say Thank u and she would shake her head and walk away ..we were only there 2 hours ..I do not feel that we were asking for to much. We had to yell out to her ...we even waited 30 minutes to pay ..she never came so I rapped my burger in a napkin ..had to go to the counter and pay and get a sack for my burger ..I tipped her ..not like I would have with great service but the food was fantastic ..cheep ..and I felt like maybe I could just do the right thing ..and good karma would be...

My husband and I recently hit the road again and found ourselves in Nevada, Missouri, for the first time. Eager to experience the local flavor, we asked around for dining recommendations and were pointed to the White Grill.

What a delightful gem! This quaint restaurant has a charming atmosphere that takes you back in time. You can choose to sit at the counter on shiny silver bar stools or opt for one of the oversized booths for a more intimate dining experience.

Since it was lunchtime, we were pleasantly surprised by the prices—only $6.50 for a Double Cheeseburger and $6.50 for a Chicken Burger, and we order homemade shakes and fries. The food was delicious and definitely a great value!

The White Grill was bustling with locals, which is always a good sign, and it was easy to see why. This place has a welcoming vibe and serves up hearty meals that keep the community coming back for more. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a satisfying...

What a fantastic place to stop for a quick bite in Nevada! Small, quaint, warm and friendly atmosphere draw you in as you enter. We were greeted right away and told to sit wherever we liked. The menu is all about the sandwiches that were AMAZING for the price paid. We ordered the whistle burger, double cheese burger, cheeseburger, hamburger, cup of chili, onion rings, fries and Suzy q's (onion rings). Important to note that they have homemade and pre-made onion rings, we were lucky enough to get the homemade and were not disappointed! We all loved our burgers. The taste was perfect, the grilled onions a nice touch, and the "smashed" effect gave a amazing texture to the patty that left you wanting another bite! The staff was super friendly and was very patient with us as we ordered our food. They made a few suggestions that proved they knew thier food. Thank you for an amazing quick bite for an amazing price! We stopped in for breakfast on a second visit,it was also delicious!

A great throw back diner. The burgers are fantastic, the fries and rings are fresh. Servings are in the heaping range and the prices are surprising low for what you get. Service is super friendly and quite attentive. My wife was trying to reposition her straw in her drink, and the server came running thinking she needed a refill. This place is definitely worth a mile drive off of I 49 if you are passing Nevada Missouri. You can always opt for a normal McWendy King, but if you do, you will miss out on a bit of nostalgia. Stop in and experience 1938.

Ok, I worked at the White Grill in Pittsburg, KS in the early 1960’s they had 2 locations in Ft Scott, 1 in Pittsburg and 2 in Nevada, MO. later on the 1106 opened in Pittsburg after the White Grill closed. This is the original smash burger joint. I used to cook over 1200 Hamburgers a night on the weekends, they called the orders out and I never used tickets or notes, it was a great experience and I never forgot how to cook the burgers. Mr McLaughlin lived in Nevada and had a Cadillac, he came in every morning to say hey and check on things.
